Devin Hester scores as Bears pound Lions

Devin Hester AP

Bears return man Devin Hester scored his NFL record 12th career punt return touchdown today at Soldier Field, leading the way as Chicago is putting a beating on Detroit.

Hester bobbled the punt when he fielded it at the Bears’ 18-yard line, but once he secured it, he raced past the first wave of Lions and then ran down the sideline, staying in bounds even after Detroit punter Robert Malone shoved him, and sprinting to the end zone.

Hester also had a 29-yard punt return on which Malone did manage to push him out of bounds, and another long return that was called back by a holding penalty.

The Lions have been a mess all day on offense, defense and special teams, and in the second quarter the Bears lead 20-0.

Why does ANYONE kick to Devin Hester EVER?????

  2. mark8240 says: Nov 13, 2011 5:24 PM

Our special teams coach should be fired. You kick the Hester again after he has already run one back on you? Plus every time you kick to him hes gotten a good return. Im no pro scout but I could tell you not to kick him the damn ball.

Good half bears, but not a big secret that Detroit is a second half team. And after Peppers sacked Stafford by his helmet, I never want to hear u crybabies whine about suh’s hit on Cutler

It a sad state of things when your punter is your most effective defensive player on special teams. I’m just saying. . . .

  5. 46defense says: Nov 13, 2011 6:04 PM

Suh just got away with a push well after the throw and a clear facemask. I don’t wanna hear any more crying about penalties on him. He gets away with way more than he gets called for.

and peppers clotheslined CJ by the head and went helmet to helmet on Stafford, with neither called. there are plays like that every single game, get over it. it goes both ways.

For all the hype the Lions got after starting 5-0. Its all gone going 1-3 in the last 4 games. Lions are the Lions

Seriously, I hate to say this but my Lions are the best players on the Bears team. I wont quit on my boys, so come on shake it off and lets play like the team we are. Chicago is not better then us. Even if they can win they are not better.

how anyone can question whether Devin Hester is the best return man in history is beyond belief. they know what he is going to do and still can’t stop him. suh is a dirty player and desrves his reputation. a guy that talented should not have to play that way but what goes around comes around and when it does shut up and take it!

are the Bears still “who you thought they were?”

Not exactly a clothesline on Johnson when the ball was carried up high.

  12. punkyqb says: Nov 13, 2011 6:44 PM

And Detroit is who we thought they were ! Were are all the Lion fans talking about how they were going to crush the Bears.

Wow just wow thats cute u think the lions are better then any bears players not bias at all. You are ignorant sir and have zero football knowledge

Detroit, you can have your Suh and Fairley. Completely classless and play cheap and dirty. Their play is going to cost you a lot of personal foul penalties which equal loses.

I’ll take Peppers and Anthony Adams, they play hard and fair, which equals wins and the benefit of the doubt on close calls, none of which you will get.

    Stay classy Detroit.

    BEARSSSSSSS

This team is not good. They are dirty. Teams are dirty when they cannot compete with real talent. Good luck winning against real teams.

the Lions are completely being dominated and now are losing their cool. Pretend team with a pretend coach. right now Peppers is begging to come back in to kill Stafford.

  18. adirtyplayernamedsue says: Nov 13, 2011 7:08 PM

The reality is that the lions are not a good football team. Their coach has little man syndrome. their QB is average at best (I really think Hill is better), and other than Calvin Johnson they dont have a decent player on their team. Now all you lovers of dirty sue can say all you want about how great he is or whatever, fact is they are 1-3 the past 4 games. Granted your coaching sucks, but good teams dont go on a 1-3 streak.Lions are the same crappy team they always are. All down hill from here lion lovers. Do my team a favor and try to at least beat the Packers.

What a horrible call on the ejection: Stafford grabs Moore by the helmet and throws him down- Jennings gets hit out of bounds- and Moore gets the penalty and thrown out of the game. At the very least, there are offsetting penalties there.

  20. 46defense says: Nov 13, 2011 7:11 PM

Remember when teh Bears were getting mopped in Detroit? They took it with class, battled back and made changes and turned it into a 4 game win streak.

This is the difference between the Bears and the Lions. The Loser Lions will snowball this into another long losing streak.

  21. jutts says: Nov 13, 2011 7:27 PM

The Lions are “DIRTY” period. Man, if they are coached to push guys and knock a player down after the play is over. Very dissapointed in the Lions coaching staff…. Bush league..

  22. kilowog77 says: Nov 13, 2011 7:46 PM

never have i seen a team (with the exception of the ravens and the steelers, who get a pass because they have to play each other twice a year) that plays this dirty, and its not just on defense, their oline were consistently hitting people late. I feel so sorry for megatron, such a good and humble player getting stuck in Detroit for probably his whole career, he will be lucky if he ever see a wildcard game let alone a superbowl.

  23. thridandlong says: Nov 13, 2011 7:50 PM

Thanks Detroit, can we ask 1 more favor of you, would you beat the Packers for us….we’d appreciate it.

    BEARSSSSSS !

  24. dlmcc1010 says: Nov 13, 2011 8:03 PM

Bears would be a force in the playoffs if they got Cutler a good WR and some better protection.
