No passing yards, no problem for Broncos

Tim Tebow, Glenn Dorsey AP

The Broncos have taken their run-first approach to new extremes.

Despite injuries to Willis McGahee and Knowshon Moreno, the Broncos have run the ball 25 times and thrown the ball four times. Tim Tebow is 0-for-4.

And it’s worked perfectly.

Denver rushed for 169 yards while racking up a 10-0 halftime lead. The read option has worked at times, with Denver sprinkling in a triple option play with Eddie Royal involved.

Broncos defense has given up only 72 yards to the Chiefs offense, which looks just as anemic as it did last week against Miami. Tebow has underthrown a couple of deep balls or the lead would be even bigger.

It may not be pretty, but the Broncos is trying to get back in this AFC West.

Broncos took football 80 years back before the invention of the forward pass but hey…at least they’re winning. I don’t see how they can win consistantly doing this.

    Run first, pass second.

Thought that’s what you are supposed to do.

  6. daveistheman0000 says: Nov 13, 2011 2:51 PM

if you refer to the Broncos as a single entity “is” is correct. it’s like saying “the team is trying.”. it still sounds stupid though.

    TY- Tebow Man.

Maybe there is still a career somewhere ?

So sick of hearing about Tebow on every show when he has done absolutely nothing and is not an NFL quarterback but yet he has more press coverage than the players that deserve it..

Fox, McCoy and the rest of the offensive coaching staff should be ashamed of themselves. Somewhere Dan Reeves is saying to himself “wow, this is one conservative offense!”

Nice try but when you use Broncos in a sentence it is not as a single entity it’s used as a collection so “are” would be most appropriate. You’ll never hear the Broncos is driving down the field for a touchdown, Or the Broncos is losing, or Broncos is down a touchdown.

Wow, Broncos fans are pretty full of themselves over this. One day they’ll have to play a real team. Hopefully that’ll shut the Bronco/Tebow fans up, but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

We will ee if they can hold on, but it is notable that they have lost their two best RBs.

This is unacceptable pioli and Haley both need to be fired. How do draft 2 dlineman in the top 5 and still can’t stop the run or rush the passer. Pioli was supposed to be this great talent evaluator ya sounds like the same garbage this organization been feeding us for ever. Sad every team in our divison has been to or won the sb since we last one won but were some great organization. Feed up with u sorry losers.

Say goodbye to your season, Chiefs fans. Your next five:

    New England
    Pittsburgh
    Chicago
    NY Jets
    Green Bay

This division belongs to the Raiders. Plain and simple.

  27. timreph says: Nov 13, 2011 3:53 PM

Bottom line – Tebow is a winner!
3-1 as a starter this year.
    3 wins ON THE ROAD!

What is the NFL ALL ABOUT???
my boy Charlie Sheen said it best…WINNING!!!

  28. raiderapologist says: Nov 13, 2011 3:56 PM

How does that taste, Chiefs fan? You laughed when Oakland got Tebowed. Not so funny now, is it?

  29. iownyou2 says: Nov 13, 2011 4:17 PM

When do the Broncos play a real team again? (please refer to the Lions game Broncos fans)

“neither has tony romo but he gets stroked left and right”

I am not a Cowboy fan nor a Romo fan but at least Romo has shown he can play good football. Tebow, on the other hand, has won a couple games. That’s it. He has yet to play anything like an NFL QB.

  31. jbaxt says: Nov 13, 2011 4:19 PM

Matt Cassell needs to be benched. Hey Matt, you’re down 10 and you take a sack with 3 minutes in the game like it’s the 1st quarter. At least try you sorry excuse for a QB, you ducked your head like a middle school QB on that one sissy. The Chiefs have a great WR corps but our sorry azz QB can’t throw it over 10 yards. The drag route to Breaston and the 5 yard out to Pope should NEVER be ran again for the rest of the season. Just because Palmer was limited to 15 plays on his 1st week back from his pre-retirement doesn’t mean we have to keep a 15 play playbook. Same goes for McCluster, the dude sucks and can’t break a tackle. He’s a guy who should be used 3 times a game and Haley thinks he’s outsmarting the league by using him 15-20 times. Thomas Jones, I like ya man but you too are D.U.N! Clark Hunt, suck it man, 30 million under the cap and you can’t stop a QB-less team. Oh ya, and that was their backup’s backup running it down the throat of your once proud father’s team. As long as you keep that 30 million in your pocket you can enjoy the view of your father’s stadium full of the opposing teams fans. Jerk!

  32. omegaichiban says: Nov 13, 2011 4:30 PM

So they further handcuff themselves by not allowing him to throw much. They still win…how silly do they look now? Broncos is sounds funny but correct, you really should make sure you’re right before you ridicule someone for being right. You see what I did there?

  33. eleventyeight says: Nov 13, 2011 4:33 PM

I hope the whole AFC West gets Tebowed.

  34. stixzidinia says: Nov 13, 2011 4:37 PM

    2-8 for 69 yards and a TD.

It may be a win, but Tebow has done nothing to show he can play QB in the NFL. Nice kid with a good work ethic, but he flat out sucks. Be glad you were playing the Chiefs. Tebow hasn’t faced or beaten anybody worth talking about…..not that he’s beaten anybody anyway. Those wins he was a part of came in spite of him, not because of him.

  35. pff says: Nov 13, 2011 4:39 PM

and Romo has been on a loaded cowboy team for many years with nothing to show for it.

Living here in Denver it all Tebow, all day. Even non sport shows are awash in some Tebow news. For how much I can’t stand the ground pound, makes for boring tv. However, you run your best plays till the other team stops you. Coach Fox, is just looking for Tebow to be a caretaker of the offense, with a twist, being another RB on the field. Fox wants to grind it out and let the defense win the game. Ala Baltimore Ravens 2000. How sad is it that Trent Dilfer is a better Qb than your starting QB. All that matters is it was a win.
