The Falcons have successfully controlled the ball against the Saints and shortened the game.

They just haven’t scored much.

Atlanta held the ball for more than 20 minutes in the first half Sunday, but they settled for two field goals and missed another.

The Saints lead 10-6 at halftime. Jimmy Graham caught five passes for 73 yards and a touchdown. He had two drops early in the game on third down that helped to kill drives.

Atlanta brought in Julio Jones for just this sort of game, but the Falcons still appear to have the same station-to-station offense they did a year ago.

UPDATE: Julio Jones hurt his hamstring late in the first half and is not on the field to start the second half. He’s questionable to return.
