Getty ImagesAnd just as the Bears’ offensive line was rounding into great shape, one of the five starters has been lost for the year.
Left guard Chris Williams, as expected, has been placed on Injured Reserve with a wrist injury suffered in Sunday’s win over the Lions. The team announced the move on Monday.
The Bears also signed defensive end Chauncey Davis and released defensive end Nick Reed.
Picked as a first-rounder in 2008 with the intention of making him a left tackle, Williams has been more productive on the inside. This year’s first-round pick, tackle Gabe Carimi, hasn’t played since Week Two. Carimi underwent arthroscopic knee surgery on Friday.
Edwin Williams is expected to take over for Chris Williams, as the 6-3 Bears try to keep quarterback Jay Cutler in fewer than six, or three, pieces.

Can’t wait till the raiders have him walking to the wrong side line
When carimi gets back Spencer should go to LG, louis toRG, and carimi to RT
As long as Omiyale isn’t forced into action we should be ok.
Wondering why Carimi didn’t get scoped earlier though…
you could throw a high school offensive line out there and the chargers still wouldn’t be able to get pressure on cutler
the bears and their fans shouldn’t be worried about anything, at least for this week. trust me
The Lions did it on purpose, because, you know, they’re dirty and stuff.
Tough loss for our division rival, but I expect the Bears to still play well.
I think the win on sunday clearly proves the Packers and Bears are still the class of the NFC. (49ers fans will see what I mean when one of the two destroys them in the playoffs).
How about going to grab Kreutz off the waiver wires. He knows the offense and can immediately contribute. Give the dude a one year contract and let’s see what happens. What can it hurt?
