Texans coach Gary Kubiak revealed at Monday’s press conference that quarterback Matt Schaub will “miss some time” because of a foot injury.
Schaub was seen walking out of Sunday’s game in a walking boot, but he said at the time he was fine.
Matt Leinart will start for the Texans coming out of Houston’s bye against Jacksonville. It’s unclear how long Schaub will be out, but Kubiak made it sound like it could be awhile. (UPDATE: Multiple reports say Schaub will be out “several weeks.”)
Clearly, the team doesn’t think Schaub will be remotely close in two weeks when the Texans come off their bye week.
Schaub will be “in a boot” this week. He suffered the injury when he got his foot caught in a pile in the first half against the Bucs on Sunday.
The good news for Houston: They face a winnable game in Jacksonville after the bye. The bad news: They face winning teams Atlanta and Cincinnati after that.
UPDATE II: ESPN’s Adam Schefter heard Schaub had a LisFranc injury. That doesn’t sound good.
Kubiak says Schaub will see specialists this week. Kubiak “hopes” Schaub can play again this season, but isn’t sure whether that will be possible. Gulp.
