Calvin Johnson cleared to face Panthers

For much of the year, the Lions offense has been little more than “Throw the ball up to Calvin Johnson.”

That would be a difficult offense to run without Calvin Johnson, but luckily the Lions won’t have to try this week.

Johnson told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that he passed a concussion test and will face the Panthers this week. We suspect coach Jim Schwartz won’t be quite as forthcoming with Megatron’s status, but clearly this is a good sign. Johnson said he had his “bull rung” against Chicago.

The Lions can’t afford a home slip-up against the 2-7 Panthers, with their big Thanksgiving game against Green Bay looming.
