Tashard Choice ready to “run to daylight” against his former team

Tashard Choice AP

Tashard Choice hasn’t seen the field yet in the two weeks since the Redskins claimed him off waivers from Dallas. But with the Cowboys coming to town on Sunday, Choice says there’s no way he’s missing a chance to play against his former team.

I’m just going to go in there and play — get behind those guys and run to daylight,” Choice told the Washington Post. “I’m excited about the opportunity.”

Choice didn’t do much running to daylight in his six games with the Cowboys this season — he had just 75 yards on 28 carries. But Choice was hobbled by a hamstring strain earlier this year, and he now says that injury isn’t affecting him at all.

Asked what the percent chance is that he’ll play on Sunday, Choice answered, “One hundred.”

“I’m playing this week,” Choice added.

That’s good news for the Redskins’ offense, which in the last three games has just one touchdown (in garbage time of a loss to the 49ers) and needs all the help it can get.

With all their injuries they have no “Choice” but to play Tashard some of the game.

It doesnt matter if they bring the second coming of John Riggins in there. They have no QB and no way to stop a suddenly red hot Cowboys team.

    Good luck with that Tashard..

Good luck “running to daylight” behind that terrible offensive line.

    Worst team in the NFL….

  5. Grulks says: Nov 15, 2011 10:57 AM

    I always liked Tashard.
Fortunately for Dallas fans, The Skins banged up, injured, and patched O-line isn’t likely to be conducive for Tashard running to daylight.
I wish him well, just not this week!

did he ask tony romo for his autograph already?

  7. rwmilli says: Nov 15, 2011 11:01 AM

Wow could you get off the bandwagon please, just because they blew out the ” new ” bills….doest make them suddenly RED hot. Agree with no qb in dc though, after the worst lions team ever wouldn’t give grossman a shot why would the skins, didn’t make sense to me

  8. trainsaw says: Nov 15, 2011 11:05 AM

Good this will give him a chance to get Demarco Murray’s autograph.

  9. cowboyfan45 says: Nov 15, 2011 11:07 AM

it’s a NFC east game, they’re always close games between these two teams, so I dont see it being a blowout as the Bills game was but Choice isn’t going to have a good day since I suspect the cowboys will be stacking the line to stop the run and try to make Grossman beat them…but I do expect the cowboys to win in a very close game..

Helu needs to be getting more attempts.

    __
But they DO have a “choice”. Tashard Choice.

See what Denver did last Sunday, running the ball over 50 times, and throwing only 8 passes? THAT’S what the Redskins should be doing, especially with Helu. If they did that every week, they’d be 5-4, maybe better at this point. Doing what works best with the roster you have is more effective than trying to get more out of this offense than is really there.

Has he met his new o-line? Not exactly the hogs.

  14. n0hopeleft says: Nov 15, 2011 11:16 AM

The Redskins always have a chance against the Cowboys.

Reference some of the games over the last 5 years.

    J O K E.

Why did they sign this guy?

    START HELU idiots!

  16. devinmr711 says: Nov 15, 2011 11:17 AM

The Cowboys are a joke. This is just the type of game they lose to end all their momentum. The Giants have the division locked up.

  17. waussau says: Nov 15, 2011 11:33 AM

Except Kyle Shanahan doesn’t like to run the ball no matter how effective.

  18. ilovefoolsball says: Nov 15, 2011 11:39 AM

It doesn’t matter the cowboys aren’t good enough to get past the packers, bears, saints, or hell even the falcons.

  19. ppc50 says: Nov 15, 2011 11:52 AM

Sure, running to daylight fumbling the ball all the way. This guy always has had the biggest mouth for a 3rd or 4th string RB. I will give him credit for 1 game vs the Steelers, but they still lost. They cut him because of the mistakes he made that helped them lose. ilovefoolsball – Dallas can beat the Bears and Falcons now, they beat the Saints when they were really hot a couple of years ago, but the Packers are definitely going to be tough to beat.

  20. txtroutslayer says: Nov 15, 2011 11:58 AM

awesome I hope he starts…that will guarantee the Cowboys at least 1 to 2 fumble recoveries….

  21. 700levelvet says: Nov 15, 2011 12:06 PM

Perhaps…….The skins will institute the “juan castillo” defense against the suddenly red hot cowboys……you know the offensive line coach, who is as cluless as it gets as a DC, but held them to 7 points……..go figure

  22. seatown12 says: Nov 15, 2011 12:11 PM

    ROY. HELU.

  23. butlers91 says: Nov 15, 2011 12:17 PM

Hmmm, seems he forgot that he now plays for the Skins. Running to daylight would require some aptitude at offense, which they do not have.

  24. rexryanstoecheese says: Nov 15, 2011 12:17 PM

Olandis Gary, Mike Hunt, Mike Bell, Tatum Bell, Clinton Portis, Ryan Torian…..Tashard Choice?

  25. waxdaclam says: Nov 15, 2011 12:52 PM

With that o-line, Choice will be lucky to not end up IR at the end of the game…

We all know the Eagles only prepare for games against the Cowboys every season. That’s their Super Bowl. Quite evident by their record.

On another note, Choices first game against Dallas will be no different than Emmitts. Broken shoulder anyone?

  27. steelers0wn0hio says: Nov 15, 2011 1:30 PM

I do remember a few years ago when the cowboys came to Steeltown and Choice ran rampant for over a 100yds….the dude has skills. It will be interesting to see what Shanahan does with him. When healthy I thought the guy was a good player.

  28. RomosRibs says: Nov 15, 2011 2:34 PM

I gotta admit, Im a Cowboy fan and I am petrified that Choice has set his sights on Dallas D.
    dude….uh…not

  29. youguysaretotalnerds says: Nov 15, 2011 2:37 PM

I hope he’s ready to do all that running on a treadmill. No chance he carries the ball more than 5 times.

  30. mustyoldclapptrap says: Nov 15, 2011 2:58 PM

Just like always, the Redskins will get up for this one, make it a game, possibly win, and injure a few Cowboys in the process. Win loss records don’t EVER matter in this series.

  31. howley1 says: Nov 15, 2011 6:08 PM

Over the last 28 games, the Cowboys are 21-7 against the Redskins. It is what it is.

  32. mcconnellrules says: Nov 16, 2011 8:23 AM

    Skins win 21-17

    Tashard Choice w/ 2 TD’s

    F#*K Dallas Cowgirls!!!

  33. bigjdve says: Nov 16, 2011 4:33 PM

Roy Helu get more attempts you say? That isn’t going to happen, that makes way too much sense.

I mean Beck got benched for giving him the ball too much.

The Shannys just aren’t making sense.

  34. londonfletcher says: Nov 17, 2011 8:27 AM

“I mean Beck got benched for giving him the ball too much. ”

Beck got benched because he had, what, 2 td’s in 3 games? And he ran one of those in.

He also wouldn’t throw the ball down field. I know we aren’t doing crap this season, but at least Rex will throw it more than 10 yards out.
