As expected, Jets won’t have Tomlinson on Thursday night

The Jets, operating on a very short week (especially since they played their Sunday game at night), will be playing at Denver on Thursday.  And the Jets won’t have the services of veteran tailback LaDainian Tomlinson.

Tomlinson officially is out, due to a knee injury suffered in garbage time of the 37-16 loss to the Patriots.

Receiver Julian Edelman, playing the two-way role made famous last decade by Troy Brown, went low at L.T., bending a knee awkwardly and causing Tomlinson to limp off the field.  (And that’s exactly why offensive players prefer taking a helmet-to-helmet hit over being hit in the legs.)

Also out for the Jets are receiver Jeremy Kerley (knee), tight end Shawn Nelson (illness), and defensive back Brodney Pool (knee).

A whopping 14 players are probable, including receiver Plaxico Burress (back), receiver Santonio Holmes (foot), center Nick Mangold (ankle), and cornerback Darrelle Revis (knee).

  1. Previous comment by zimaman is right. Glad someone else noticed. The Edleman hit was a clean, textbook tackle. The Jets are getting thin.

Im a huge jets fan but i did laugh at your comment. I have no idea why the jets continue to ever throw the ball to greene. Between him not being able to catch it and Sanchez with accuracy issues at times its a disaster waiting to happen like the other night. Greene NEVER catches the ball! If i see Sanchez dump it down to him again im gonna go crazy!!!!

  3. it’s beyond me how Jets fans can give a thumbs down to a fact

i have no idea what game you were watching if you did not see them going low all night on the tight ends

    it was pathetic

@ clownsfan – true, but even then it just would have meant that LDT wouldn’t get the opportunity to come up small on a nationally televised game

LOL, That is so true…Tomlinson is the biggest phony in the NFL…the bigger the game, the bigger he chokes,,if he has the balls to even take the field….which he doesn’t.

Best part of NE blowing out the jets…Mayo lighting Tomlinson up…whole country liked that one.

  5. I wonder if Ryan and Sanchise have emergency tix to somewhere else and are taking disguises along with them. If the Jets lose this one the mocking headlines will be in 60 point and they’ll light the Empire State Building in blood red. Too bad the team won’t be able to see it from the swamp.

  6. Tomlinson is a third down back, we don’t need him anyway. Why do we even keep him? I want Jones back.

@ zimaman, We all watched the game. It isn’t your point that gave you the thumbs down it’s your stupidity

  7. @ zimaman:
Who said the Jets were “whining” about it?
    Your just an idiot!
Jets were going after Gronk and bla..bla..bla all night ?..Were you in the film room with the Patriot players on Monday? Because your the only one saying this.
    YOUR the whiner.
