Not even the best team of the 1980s, can you get an easier SB opponent than the Tony Eason led Pats, no one can name more than a few players from that team unless they were a Bahstan fan.

Eason, Tippett, Fryar, i'm stumped....

There are college teams that could have beaten the '72 Dolphins. They played the most laughable schedule of any SB winner in history. The '73 Dolphins were actually a much, much better team. It is infinitely harder to go undefeated in this day that it was when Morris played. Even the 0-16 Lions could have beaten the '72 Dolphins.

I just wish people would stop interviewing this d-bag.

I will gladly admit the 2001 Rams were better than the Pats. We won that game because we were better that day. There is a big difference between a team choking and a team being better than another one.

Ravens just lost to Seattle this past Sunday. You really think they were a better team than the Ravens???

Please cut the crap with trying to reason with people in NE. You guys love to try and find reasons to call us unreasonable arrogant clowns. You are a clown if you think the Giants were a better team for that season. I believe the Patriots pulled off an undefeated season that year at 16-0. Was there anyone better that year? Or ever for that matter? NO! The Giants showed up on Super Sunday and got their championship. They were NOT a better team than the Patriots. It even took a ridiculous miracle play for them to win that day as it was.

Yes they are champs, yes they were the better team that day..... NO THEY WERE NOT THE BEST TEAM THAT SEASON!!

Flawed logic in the 19>17. The Dolphins that year played most of the year with a backup quarterback. Griese didn’t even come back until the AFC Championship game. The Packers have a great team and forget about the h2h theory, the Dolphins that year had the number 1 offense and defense. They have every right to boast and take pride in something no one else has done. As far as the 07 Patriots vs this years Packer team in my own opinion this Packer team is better. Their overall receiver core is deeper and have a better defense. Both were great teams though.

Nice unbiased analysis, uscfan.

bozosforall,

Wow! Do you really get so spun up that easily?

For the record, I hate the Patriots, I’m not from New England, I moved out of my parent’s house at 17 when I went to college and in college, I passed 4 semesters of calculus. So I kinda like math and feel I’m pretty good at it. I also agree with you that Bush’s math was fuzzy.

My comments were brought up from a purely mathematical standpoint… 18 > 17. Every day of the week. Nothing fuzzy about it. It has nothing to do with “undefeated”.

The Dolphins didn’t win 18 games in a season and the Patriots did. I don’t like it either, but it’s nothing that would ever cause me to sling insults on the internet.

__
Not "spun up" at all, harold. The thread IS about being undefeated. Your comments are moot, given that the 18 wins didn't result in an undefeated campaign by the Pats. Winning more games merely because one has more opportunities doesn't make the Pats better than the Dolphins, just fortunate that they had more chances to do so.

And as for slinging insults on the Internet, stick around and I'm certain that you will find that the Pats fan base here is by far the most egregious slingers of insults on PFT. Just stop by any Jets thread if you want proof of this.

The difference in the 72 Fins and the 07 Pats is that the 72 Fins actually WON the Super Bowl! hahahahaahahahahahahaha. Tom Brady is a female.

To best the greatest, you have to be the champion. In the words of Ol Vince Lombardi, “At the end of the day, all that matters is whats on the scoreboard”.

Giants 17
Patriots 14

Get over it. You lost.

Patriots 3 Super Bowls
Dolphins 2 Super Bowls

That’s all that matters. How you win it gives you some style points, but no one cares but the idiots from that Miami team and any fans that are still alive and haven’t completely abandoned their useless team.

Steelers 6 Super Bowls

<blockquote><em>"As for some saying the Super Bowl Loss DQs the 2007 Patriots from being considered one of the best teams ever, I disagree with that. Those 1990s Bills teams never won the SB. ARe they lousy?"</em></blockquote>

You cannot be the greatest team in history <strong>if you weren't even the greatest team for the year in question</strong>. It's simple logic to anyone west of the Connecticut River.

It's not like they lost some random regular season game. <strong>They lost the Super Bowl</strong>, the game that determines the NFL champion.

If you're going to ignore what happens in the Super Bowl, then why even play the game?

Unless you want to admit the Rams were a better team than the Patriots in 2001 and revoke the Patriots first win. Near-exact reversal of 2007.

Patriots fan here…

Not this guy again. Why do people interview him. That was barely the same sport he was playing in the early 70s. Please don’t cover these idiot ex-dolphins, including Shula who is the biggest idiot.

If the Packers go 19-0 that’s better than the 2007 Patriots. The Patriots were a great record breaking team and statistically may have been better, but they didn’t win the Superbowl so you can’t compare. As great as 2007 was, 2001,2003 and 2004 were better. Gotta win it.

That said, the Packers can still lose one easily. Their schedule is not crazy, but a few tough games coming up.

I’d love to see Brady and Belichick have a chance to stop them in the Superbowl.

__
Too bad your mediocre Pats won't get that chance.

Mercury Morris , is correct in one regard. The Dolphins are the only team to be PERFECT. Now to his dislike of the Patriots . He didnt like the way they came across. Well then he needs to stop being a blindsided idiot and get his glasses fixed. It was the way the media made the Pats look. They are the most heavily talked about team in the NFL. No matter what they do its front page news. They start the quest for a perfect season by the time they were 7-0 thats all you heard. Look at the amount of points they are beating teams bye. Atleast the PAckers got to this point before they started. Then Spygate the point the media always forgot to mention was that the memo for video tapping was sent league wide , but they harped on the patriots. You always here about what the Pats are doing no matter what. Greenbay is a small market team so the media coverage of them wont be as intense as in Boston or the Northeast as a whole. Arron Rogers is having a great season I dont see as many cameras or interviews on him as was Brady when he was putting up those numbers, or the fact the Packers have the 31st ranked Defense. But the Pats = Ratings .MR. Morriss you are more of a media Puppet than any Patriot then or now.

Kudos to the Perfect season...you can make the argument of parity or impatient franchises taking QB's too soon, hiring and firing coaches too often, not putting revenues into scouting, but at some point, you have to play and that record has to fall.

Well stated vuudu. Brady did awesome that year, and is a great QB, Montana had many good years and is a Great QB, but neither of them live up to Manning and Marino. If Manning had half of the talent Brady did that year and Rodgers does this year, than it’d be a different story. To bad we’re learning just how bad the Colts are and just how good Manning is.

This has to be one of the most ignorant things I have ever read. Peyton Manning has had Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne on his team for his whole career, sometimes both at the same time. Brady had Moss for 2 years essentially and has put up eye popping numbers with him. If he had a WR like that his whole career he would be king of stats over Manning.

In 2007 Brady had Moss and that's pretty much it. Welker was a slot devil but outside of that there wasn't much there. Try to name a weapon other than Moss that Brady has had throughout his career. Gronk is a beast now, but Welker is not a go to #1 WR... he is just too small.

Manning has had Harrison, Wayne and Dallas Clarke for most of his career.... I guess you're right, those are not good weapons.

I was wondering when coke head Morris was going to run his danged yap. I mean, enough already. If anyone was "in your face,'' it was MORRIS. My goodness, in 2007, after the Patriots got to about 10-0 or a little after, he and that Shula moron would start their chirping about the Patriots "knocking on their door," and all that crap. I mean, and he said the PATRIOTS were the ones who acted like people had to "kiss their ring?" I was wondering if he was on coke again. HE was the one who was acting like THEY should have kissed HIS ring.

Now, I admit Coach Bellichick is not exactly Mr. Congeniality, and Mr. Modesty, but if anyone thinks the Green Bay Packers are not arrogant, they are kidding themselves.

We already heard the aging Woodson yapping about going undefeated. If there were a horse race for the most arrogant, know it all NFL Head Coach, I would say it would be a neck and neck battle between the New Orleans Saints' Sean Payton, and the Packers' Mike McCarthy with McCarthy just nosing Payton out at the wire. I have never seen a head coach so arrogant as McCarthy. He just comes across as a know it all, and in that game last season against the Patriots, he tried to out coach Bellichick, and got his rear end kicked.

At the Super Bowl, actually a week before, McCarthy and the Packer organization had the COHONES to have some jeweler come in and have everyone sized for RINGS. Now, how arrogant do you have to be to do that? The media revealed this nugget AFTER the Packers won, whearas before the game, they just bombard the Steelers with last minute distractions. How convenient.

That's neither here nor there, it was a very arrogant move. If the Packers had lost, it would have looked stupid.

As for some saying the Super Bowl Loss DQs the 2007 Patriots from being considered one of the best teams ever, I disagree with that. Man O' War lost a race. Does that DQ him from being the best horse ever? Secretariat never won a race he entered that started with the letter W. That means he is a lousy horse? Those 1990s Bills teams never won the SB. ARe they lousy?

What I am saying is that it is not black and white. In the fourth quarter, Tom Brady did, what Tom Brady does. Brady put that team in position to win. The team ultimately lost because of a couple of unlucky bounces due to 1. Asante Samuel dropping an interception that surely would have iced the game, and then a couple of plays later, 2. a very, VERY lucky play (the Tyree catch) that lead to the game winning TD. That is the way the ball bounces, and unfortunately, it didn't go the Pats' way.

I just don't think that wipes out an entire brilliant season. I have them as one of the best teams ever in my mind anyway.

The team ultimately lost because of a couple of unlucky bounces due to 1. Asante Samuel dropping an interception that surely would have iced the game, and then a couple of plays later, 2. a very, VERY lucky play (the Tyree catch) that lead to the game winning TD. That is the way the ball bounces, and unfortunately, it didn’t go the Pats’ way.

I just don’t think that wipes out an entire brilliant season. I have them as one of the best teams ever in my mind anyway.

Man, I really cannot stand this dude any longer. 17-0 is not that same as 19-0 you clown. The Patriots went 18-0 in a season so they even surpassed what you accomplished in one year.

Who is to say that you would have gone 16-0 in the regular season if when you played there were two more games. You can't go around saying you're the best when you didn't accomplish the same thing, that is if the Packers do run the table.

I look back at 2007 and remember the Patriots dismantling teams much like the Packers are. Packers are throwing late in games when they are up by a bunch. Got to the 1st and goal and Rodgers was throwing every down up 24 before his 4th TD.

I remember the Pats being humble with the media the same way the Pack is this year, so for Morris to say the Pats were showboating is just clownish. These teams are actually eerily similar in many aspects so keep your trap shut Morris, you hater.
