Boley, Bradshaw expected to be out for Giants

The Eagles aren’t the only team on Sunday Night Football this week dealing with a fresh wave of injuries.

The Giants are expected to be without linebacker Michael Boley, according to Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News.  Running back Ahmad Bradshaw is expected to miss his third straight game according to Mike Garafolo of the Newark Star-Ledger.

The Giants may make both players “gametime decisions” but it looks like they will be out.

Both players will be tough to replace. Don’t underestimate Boley’s impact this year for the Giants. The team’s linebacker group is very thin and he’s consistently played well.

The team has often played a “big nickel” defense with three safeties, in part to keep rookie middle linebacker Greg Jones off the field. Jones and fellow Jacquian Williams figure to play much bigger roles this week.

  1. Tough to lose Boley. But Jones has played well as has Williams. Don’t know if they can call a defense, that will probably fall to Kiwanuka. Looks like we’ll probably see more of Herzlich and Paysinger.

  2. Time for Jacquain to step it up this week. Osi and JPP need to be the bookends and keep Vick bottled up. Tuck is obviously banged up this year and has not been effective.

  3. Who’s underestimating Boley? All Giants fans who actually watch the games know he’s the only LB who’s played consistently all year (Kiwi has been nice, but primarily as a pass rusher). The players even said amongst themselves (before Boley was injured) that he was the player they could least afford to lose on defense.

  4. greg jones has not played well….the kid is constantly lost on the field. hate to say it, but two of the the three late round “gems” the giants got at linebacker this year, jones and herzlich, stand a real chance of getting cut next season.

the giants biggest defensive hole coming into this season was at linebacker….and nothing has really changed. giants need to attack the position next year through free agency or the draft, or both. guys like goff…when he gets healthy….and williams should probably be reserves at best. kiwi, who i love and who is a stud DE, is not a great linebacker vs the pass. the only legit starting calliber lb’er the giants have on their entire team is boley.
