If they were purple shoes I maybe could be convinced the fine is worthwhile. But orange is a Bears color. The fines are ridiculous. Stop with the obsessive rules, NFL.

Watching some of you post is mind numbing.

For the last time for the kids that came in the short bus:

1. ALL FINES GO TO CHARITY

2. BENNETT MAKES 1.2 MIL PER YEAR AND IS ABOUT TO SIGN A CONTRACT FOR MILLIONS IN GUARANTEED MONEY. STOP TALKING ABOUT HIM BEING BANKRUPT OVER 10,000 DOLLARS.

3. BENNETT WENT TO VANDY AND I GUARANTEE IS SMARTER THAN 98% OF THE PEOPLE ON THIS SITE.

4. CUTLER IS PAYING FOR THIS. CUTLER HAS ABOUT 30 MILLION IN THE BANK. I THINK HE WILL BE OK.

5. STOP BRINGING UP STARVING KIDS IN AFRICA OR CHINA. UNLESS YOU VOLUNTEER YOUR SPARE TIME AT A SOUP KITCHEN OR WITH MISERICORDIA STOP WORRYING ABOUT WHAT BENNETT DOES WITH HIS OR CUTLERS MONEY. SEE NUMBER 1.

It’s not a very difficult concept here people. The league wants uniforms to be, well, uniform. That means they want everyone on the team to wear from the same scheme with few exceptions. A player can’t be allowed to just go in and dictate what they want to wear no matter how small of a change you think it is.

The guy is a fool for throwing his money away like this and an egotist for thinking he should be allowed to rise above the league policy in this manner.

The reason the league is against these kind of things isn’t just to be a pain in the neck. It’s because if they allowed it, players would just exploit it for marketing purposes. Imagine a world where Earl Bennett became a superstar. Next thing you know he releases his own brand of orange cleats and is marketing them every day on the field by wearing them. Can he do that on his own time? Sure. But the league is trying to keep that stuff off the actual field. Unless, of course, such brands have an agreement with the NFL.

The fine money is given to charity and becomes a tax deduction to Bennett. Thus the fine only cost him roughly 70% of actual fine as the rest would have paid as taxes.

I think he is going to keep wearing them as long as he keeps catching the ball. He was wearing the orange shoes when he came back from the injury (an un fined/flagged illegal hit)against the saints. Since then he has caught every ball thrown to him. He is not worried to much about the fines because his QB is covering the fines. Why does Jay pay the fines, because that’s just the way #CuttyDoesIt
