Osi Umenyiora not over feud with LeSean McCoy

A lot of time has passed since June, but Osi Umenyiora’s not ready to move past something that happened that month just yet.

You might remember that the Giants defensive end engaged in a war of words with Eagles running back LeSean McCoy back in the days when the league was locked out and Umenyiora was filing affidavits about how the Giants lied to him about a new contract. McCoy tweeted that Umenyiora was soft, overrated and the third best defensive lineman on the Giants. Umenyiora fired back by referring to McCoy as “she” and “Lady Gaga.”

Honestly, we had forgotten all about the little spat, but Umenyiora’s elephantine memory is better than ours. Umenyiora missed the first Eagles game after he decided to have knee surgery during training camp so he’s had plenty of time to think about just how much he dislikes McCoy. Hint: Quite a bit.

“He ran his mouth, he crossed the line that shouldn’t have been crossed. And I think he knows that as a professional. I’ll see him on the football field and we’ll go from there.”

What he did was unforgivable,” Umenyiora said Friday, via Jeff Roberts of the Bergen Record. “Because whenever you see a man in a contract dispute—a fellow NFL player—you don’t take that opportunity to take your shots at him. You wait until you’re about to play him, then you take your shots. We’ve had our problems. I’ve moved past it.”

So now we know the rules and regulations when it comes to calling players soft and overrated. It’s okay when they are happy about their contract during game week. Since McCoy violated that rule, there’s a little extra juice to this weekend’s Giants-Eagles game.

McCoy made these tough guy comments in June, before he realized that his teammates are actually the SOFT ones.

    – Osi has a ring.
    – Osi plays for a winning team.

What is the main goal of NFL players?

I think the franchise in Philly, and its fans, forgot what the goal is.

    THE EMPTY TROPHY CASE CLAN!!!!!

Osi should just let the records of the two teams do his talking, but with regard to him being soft, he sure is hurt a lot….I’m just sayin’.

usually big guys don’t threaten smaller guys when you win you were supposed to and when you get your butt kicked you look kind of silly.

Does osi ever do or say anything that doesn’t involve whining more than a 10 year old girl?

  5. n0hopeleft says: Nov 18, 2011 4:22 PM

LeSean is French for NO RINGS.

  6. Tim says: Nov 18, 2011 4:23 PM

What a big baby. I think its a little more “unforgivable” to refer to another grown man as a woman, but alright Osi. Too bad he didn’t even play in the last game.

So what McCoy did was unforgiveable but Osi moved past it as he announced that he’s still mad about it. Makes perfect sense.

Well honestly McCoy was right Osi isn’t better than Tuck or JPP. He called him soft now this can be viewed in two ways . Let’s look at it from mccoy’s view as a running back his main focus is to run the ball we all know Osi isn’t a run stopper he prefers to rush the passer a point highlighted by Warren sapp so yes he probably doesn’t rush on run downs particularly hard. Take into account mccoy’s most damage in most games cones from the side of his o lineman Mathis Peters which lines up directly over Osi. So he makes a good point. Osi should have rebuttled with facts not lady gaga. A simple I won a super owl while you were still in highschool would suffice I’m a pro bowler your not i was a 1st rounder you weren’t I’m better compensated than you .instead the gaga thing was weak and he couldn’t say anything about on the field because at the time the eagles had won 6 str8 and McCoy was a “giant killer”
Heres to a great game Sunday

    does Umenyiora even start ?

  10. cav2ya says: Nov 18, 2011 4:56 PM

well SHE-Osi is gonan looked stoopid when SHE can’t catch the best RB in the league. (not just a fan saying it, look it up).

  11. cav2ya says: Nov 18, 2011 4:57 PM

yea yea, i got a few typos…hard to talk smack when i can’t spell correctly huh?

Osi needs to grow up. He complains about his contract, then he comes on the field and can’t back up what he is asking for.

Then he takes exception to what a running back says, why does he care?

He should care more about winning than worrying about what players not on his team are saying.

McCoy > Osi. Decidedly. McCoy may even be a hall of famer. You lose, Osi.

Osi just shut your trap and play football, you bitch more then a kid with a scraped knee…

“Well honestly McCoy was right Osi isn’t better than Tuck or JPP.”

Let’s see here, in 9 games, Jason Pierre Paul has 9.5 sacks. In 9 games, Justin Tuck has 2 sacks. In 6 games, Osi Umenyiora has 7 sacks. I realize sacks aren’t the only statistic when measuring a defensive ends efficiency, but these stats show one thing, he’s the best defensive lineman on the Giants, and he’s done it longer, and more consistently than either of the other 2. That says a lot, because all 3 should be pro-bowlers, and most of them would be the best d-lineman if they were on any other team.

defensive ends are turning into more of the prima-donnas of the defense then the cornerbacks.

  17. fmwarner says: Nov 18, 2011 6:12 PM

Osi and Raheem Morris should go out for appletinis.

    ———————————————————

He’s been in the league for only 3 years and already a top 5 RB in the league. Stop hating and go play in traffic.

  19. rudwo says: Nov 18, 2011 6:36 PM

“In 9 games, Justin Tuck has 2 sacks.”

Actually he has only played in 5 games, and he has been hurt for essentially the entire year, limiting his snaps even in those games.

Man you sure are proud of those rings, You’re just like cowboy and 49er fans talk about what your team did years ago..Giant’s might win the nfc east but that’s it..So enjoy your past RINGS cause teams like the Eagles will win one before the g-men win another..Climb outta the past bro and you wish shady mccoy played for you instead of against you…keep hating hater..

  21. baldingerspinky says: Nov 19, 2011 4:38 AM

So Osi accomplished a ring before McCoy joined the eagles. Since shady has been an eagle his team is 6-1 vs Osi and his giants. McCoy is second best back on the league Osi might be top 10 at his position but I’d take Trent cole over him anyday.

Now this made me laugh. Probably 6 weeks ago, Eagles fans were already anointing themselves the top of the league and dreaming about their super bowl trophy. Keep dreaming if you think the Eagles will win a superbowl before the Giants do and I’ll keep thinking about the ones we already have and the ones we will have in the future. I mean i’ve never met a fan base that trash talks so much when they have nothing absolutely nothing to back it up with. How about the Eagles fans stop talking about 3 NFC championships since that’s in the past too and means absolutely nothing without a ring.
