We need to try to keep racism out of sports. There are physical differences between different races, and professional sports highlights that fact. The NFL, like any business, is about survival of the fittest. Whoever is the most productive at the time will hold the position and make the $$

Get it done, and move on to the next week. That and thier are just so many awesome people around them its hard to recognition.

Nelson never brought up the issue.

Oh and for extra credit – take a look at the article where they talk about how Jennings (a black WR) and Woodson ( a black db) admit that they see it happening on the field all the time, or perhaps see where the article mentions that a division rival’s dbs admitted after the game that they underestimated Nelson.

Or, you could continue to just hate the Packers because they are successful and your team is not and continue to use any opportunity available to remind us all of that.

I believe he’s over shadowed because of other weapond not underestimated because of his skin color. Welker is a natural slot receiver that gets alot attention like a split end would. So I don’t think its a race thing. They are all good. It’s the NFL.

Perhaps to a certain degree, but how long did it take for Welker to get the credit he deserves? People were so quick to refer to him as “just a slot receiver”, as if that was any less important than being a wideout. Maybe it was once, but with the rules the way they are now, a receiver who goes across the middle is every bit as valuable as a wideout.

to be fair in this typw of discussuion, if we are to refer to black athletes as “African American” shouldn’t white athletes be refered to as Caucasion Americans? I mean cmon man lets be fair………

i would say that his profile, stardom, & cache far exceed his ability & achievement at this point in his career …

that is attributed strictly to the fact that he’s white …

& even moreso for peyton hillis … who, if he was a black athlete, would get vilified for the stunts he has pulled this season .. i give peyton one thing tho, he is very smart – because he’s trying to cash out asap, before everyone realizes how overrated he is…

the reality is, many are blaming the nfl or the media for what is taught learned & conditioned to us as children … this is how america raises its youth … so instead of complaining about it, how bout we stop passing these judgements biases & stereotypes to our youth regardless of what race we/they are

I hope Tom Jackson cries again and the dopes at espn find someone to fire. Even though they have nothing to do with it, that would suit them just fine.

But in truth this situation is decided long before a player reaches nfl level.

When kIds start pop Warner they are classified. Just like when kids start school.

The majority of minorities come from lesser socioeconomic situations. Worse facilities. Less coaching. Less structure. Basically less money.

So on the field (or the court).. Your strength is to use your talent skill athleticism to win. By & large, Black quarterbacks are not taught quarterbacking at a young age. They are taught to win any means necessary. Young white kids are schooled on passing, reading a d, etc because they have better/more coaches & structure. Same is true for the bball court … By the time these kids reach high school they are already pigeonholed a certain way.

But the biases are real. To some extent the perceptions are real. We are TAUGHT as kids that if you’re an all black team facing an all white team they wont be as good or skilled. & vice versa a white team is taught they will play harder or smarter..

There are exceptions. But this is far beyond the media or NFL.

& all that reverse racism white bias is bs .. Because cam newton was compared to far inferior black qbs & labeled a risk/likely bust. When it was very obvious he was a skilled passer with off the chart physical gifts & a winner as well as someone who could handle adversity scrutiny or attention … While all we hear is Andy luck is the best QB in 30 years …. Explain that!?….
