Chicago QB Stats 2011 NFC Championship game:

Chicago C/ATT YDS AVG TD INT NFL RATING
Hanie 13/20 153 7.7 1 2 65.2
Cutler 6/14 80 5.7 0 1 31.8

We still may be a in a position for a wild card birth.

Hanie is a year wiser and versed, I am not ruling the Bears out of it quite yet.

Only an uneducated bears fan would believe that Hanies stats were good in the NFC championship game.

So that also means the Lucky falcons will get to play the packers. which is nice because last game was a good one between the two. Then falcons can pull the upset this time maybe and meet the Bears for a rematch :)... but again in soldier :P

There's no way Cutler plays again this year. You don't have a cast removed and start throwing a football immediately. It takes a week or two to get the ligaments stretched so you can grip the ball.

Duh Bears were looking like a good story but they're on their way out of the race. Atlanta will take the 6th playoff spot.

Chicago should be grateful to have a QB with some fire and guts. And if you had DA Bares O line getting you killed every week - you might make a comment about that once in a while too, as well as what a dummy your O coordinator has been for getting you killed.

Before Cutler came to Chicago - what had the Bares done for the prior 10 years? Nada.

"Cutler did throw his offensive line under the bus in a press conference earlier this season. I believe it was after the first Detroit game.
Lions fans are embarrassing themselves on these comment boards. Are they aware that Detroit just got decimated by Chicago last week? Better yet, are they even aware that the Lions haven't won a playoff game in 20 years? If I were them I would just keep your mouth shut until they actually have something to say...

In the meantime, Bears should have no problem relying on defense and special teams to hopefully eek out another 3 or 4 wins until Jay gets back. They are far from a one-trick pony. Forte, Urlacher, Peppers, Briggs, Tillman, and Hester will keep the Bears competitive until Cutler returns, no doubt about that.

Stafford is the youngest Qb in NFL history to have two 5 touchdown games...The Bears season is going to be fine. Cutler is not what makes this team win. Forte, Hester, and the defense wins he Bears games. Cutler isn't an elite quarterback(neither is stafford) yet. I am pretty sure 95% of all fans(minus bears fans) would take Stafford over Cutler. Bears will still be fighting for a playoff spot because Cutler isn't the key to their success. That's a fact!!

Let me be the first to express confidence in Caleb Hanie. Dude has always been impressive in the preseason and got real playing time in the NFCC last year against one of the best D's he's likely to see. He's pretty mobile, accurate, and smart... goes back to the game manager. Always expected Cutler to have a regression game @ DEN, having a backup in there isn't much different than Jay throwing 4 picks(happens once a year). The strength of our team has always been defense and the ground game.

I'm worried about the Raiders who will be able to eat a lot of clock and frustrate Caleb with a great pass rush. But beyond that, KC at home, @ DEN, Seattle at home.... I expect wins in all of those games. If we only win 2 of them though, we might be able to hang on with a 10th win @ GB (merry christmas) or @ MIN.

So it's basically the same 10 or 11 wins I expected in preseason. I Keep in mind we have tiebreakers over ATL & PHI, although it will most likely be the Cowboys biting our heels. Oh yea, premature reports mean nothing. Cutler
s 6-8 weeks could end up being 3-4. We'll know at noon.

@asublimeday... you beat me to the layup

It depends on where the break is....if its high in the thumb.... if it's low in the thumb... if you can still be mobile with it. it's not as cut and dry as some of you so-called doctors say it is.
A huge drop off to Hanie? Didn't he come in and look really good in the NFC Championship game? Granted the Packers prepped for Cutler and got Hanie so it's not what they expected, but he still gave life to the Bears offense. Sure teams can prep for Hanie now, but I still think the Bears are in a better QB position without Cutler than teams like Seattle, Houston, KC, and even Buffalo what with Fitz being an awful 2nd half of the season QB.

You’re absolutely right. It’s Cutler.

Put Stafford on the Bears and see how well he does. Heck, look what happens when Calvin Johnson is taken out of the game, like the Bears did last week.

Don’t worry fans of Chicago. The Cubs have you well conditioned for the free fall that is about to take place. I’m sure members of the Bears are already questioning Cutlers “toughness”. When has a QB ever been able to “fill in” in a Martz offense? It takes them 6 weeks just to learn how to stay upright more than half the game.

Um, Kurt Warner!

I am sorry Bears fans...time to look in the mirror. Quit with the who is tougher Cutler or Stafford. Because i am pretty sure its very obvious who is the better QB. You can not crown a guy just because his defense got him to the NFC championship game and then quit on his team because he was hurt. I seen Brett Favre play all year with a broken thumb and actually statistically have a great year. The Bears offense is not that good. Their defense wins games... its been happening since 1985. They have not had an offense since Walter...

Too bad for Chi-town they were hot.

um, maybe you should re-examine what is going to your head. As Rodney Harrison on Sunday Night Football said "Raiders 4-1 on the road is amazing, this team has been DECIMATED with Injuries".. Try losing one of our best pass rushers to IR in pre season, two starting corners, Michael Huff, starting safety, Seymour a late scratch, Lamar Houston banged up, our starting QB in campbell which cost us three games getting Palmer in and up to speed, and of course at the time the LEADING rusher in the NFL in McFadden... dont even start with Raiders being lucky with the Injuries.
