Eagles optimistic Vick could return for Patriots game

In theory, Vince Young’s memorable drive against the Giants will make it easier for the Eagles to play it safe with Michael Vick’s status next Sunday.

In reality, the Eagles desperately want to start a winning streak to give this season some life. If Vick can possibly play, he’s going to play.

Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer wrote early Monday morning that the Eagles are optimistic Vick could be back to face New England despite his broken ribs.

Young showed something against the Giants Sunday night, but Vick easily has the better skill set to take advantage of New England’s soft secondary.

  1. This Birds fan is not buying it…any of it. Glad for the win last night, but I know Fat Andy will find a way to blow it. Anything short of a SB win and The Fat Man must go.

    I’ve seen this movie before.

  2. I don’t agree. I think Vick sits and Vince plays. Under Vick the team was losing and Young just put life back into this team. They sure played hard when he was in.
The stars on the team will rally around Young as the savior and Vick will be toast.
Thats the problem with Young he had the same effect in Tennesee, being able to divide the team between him, the coach and Collins.
Mr Reid should watch his back.

  3. play calling will lose us the game..

We got lucky against the Giants, VY played great on that last drive. I would be interested to see what the pass/run ration was for the game.

that stuff will work against bums like Coughlin,, but Belicheck will sniff those short routes out no problem.

then agian, Pats havent won much since they got caught cheating.

  4. They sure won’t “start” a winning streak by putting in Vick, since, uh, when was the last time they won with Vick at the controls? Yeah, Michael will play alright, even if he has to have five pain shots to do it, because if he didn’t VY would provide Mike’s permanent place on the bench.

  5. I’m optimistic eagles are gonna win with Vick or with out Vick period we can’t loose this gm , plus patriots are not the same team. Eagles pass rush is gonna be effective against Brady can’t wait to see this gm. Go Eagles…

  6. Courtesy of the G-hens, and their annual later in the season swoon….This was Vince Young’s second win as a starter in the NFL against a team with a winning record….The other win?…..Against the 14-0 Colts the year they sat all their starters……..So, yes Vick will play ,as Young only wins against teams with a losing record, second teamers and quitters…..

  7. “then agian, Pats havent won much since they got caught cheating.”

Actually, no one has won more than them since Spygate. They also won all of those Superbowls before this was against the rules, and before they started doing it.

  8. They can bring back Jaworski, McNabb and Norm Van Brocklin for all it matters.
They’re not gonna beat N.E. on Sunday and are toast in 2011.

  9. I agree, doesn’t matter if it’s Vick or VY…the Iggles R goin down! The defense will be ready for whoever..the QB is.

  10. He did an O.K. job but there is a reason Vince Young is the back up. he cant carry Vick’s jock and i am by far not a Vick fan.

  11. When Young steps up in the pocket (with the threat to run) and stops and throws, that reminded me of Vick last year. Now, Vick just runs. Donovan stopped faking the run too his last few years……to fake the run when your a running QB is friggin priceless…….safety or linebacker bites, whammo. Vicks has gone back to his old ways, therefore practically non-effective in the pocket.

  12. I guess the monitors on this site don’t like positive Philly Fan comments. Must be a bunch of Giant or Cowboy fans…..

  13. This place is littered with worthless eagles fans if your not gonna back your team keep it shut. Go Eagles!!

  14. If Vick is limited from his broken Ribs they should start Vince Young. Either way it’s up to the Eagles Defense whether they win or lose. They match up well though with 3 shut down corner and with no threat of a running game

Hilarious. Three “shut down corners” but 11th against the pass and a league-worst 9 40+ yard pass plays given up.

Yet your team lost to them 34-7.

It looks like the Pats were not prepared for any other QB with the #32 passing D in the league.
