They HAD to cut players, allow free agents to leave, etc., because they were over the cap. Has NOTHING to do with the Maras financial situation at all. Had everything to do with the new CBA.

Will Cowher want to run a 3-4 defense like he did with the Steelers? – The Giants personnel is built for a 4-3, hands down.

Would he keep Fewell if given the option? The kid is a stud DC.

And if anyone thinks the Saints are going to come off a bye week at home and lose to the injury-riddled Giants, they’re delusional.

Same old Coughlin last half season collapse save 2007. Should have never lost either of the Seattle game or the last Philly game , let alone both. Both lost on terrible playcalling by Coughlin/Golbride.

Maras low on cash spent nothing on Freee Agents this year filling team with minimum salaried players. They got what they paid for!

I laugh when I hear the 49ers complain about their schedule when they would be fighting for their playoff lives if they had the Giants schedule this year.

Not as much as I was laughing when Justin Smith knocked down Eli’s poor pass to end the game against the 49ers and then there was the hilarity of watching the Seachickens hand them their a$$ as well. I believe that one was described as ‘crushing.’ Ain’t life funny like that?

Yes it is…..He’s the coach!!!!!! He’s in charge and responsible for his assistants and his players and motivating them. Clearly, there was no motivation by either line or half the receivers or Jacobs to do anything productive Sunday night!

Well, I’m tired of starting out great and playing like crap the second half of the season. I’d rather see growth and improvement. There was no excuse to miss the playoffs last year other than they gave up in that Eagles game. FF 1 year…we control our own destiny and know the Cowboys are on our heels. What do they do? Lose to the Eagles…AGAIN! Now we are tied and have the worst schedule down the stretch and let not 1, but 2 teams back into the hunt for the division! Jacobs is less than a shadow of what he was, which is riduculous when this is time to audition for whichever team he hopes will take him next year if he’s so unhappy in NY. I, for one, am tired af great starts and mediocre finishes. I wasn’t happy they kept Tom last year, but I suspect that had to do with the CBA. If they don’t make the playoffs this year he needs to be gone.

If the Giants finish 8-8 or worse, I would expect Coughlin to be relieved of duty… at which point Cowher would probably walk from Manhattan to East Rutherford for the formality of the interview, along with Fewell to meet the Rooney rule (irony). The Giants will give Fewell a good recommendation and he’d probably get the head gig at a team like Jacksonville.

That said, don’t rule Chucky out if the Giants job does open up. Gruden’s name hasn’t been linked to New York, but it would be THE team this off-season with the best chance to win – upper-echelon QB, 5 defensive ends who can get the QB (Osi, Tuck, JPP, Kiwi [a DE stuck at OLB], Tollefson – most teams barely have 1, let alone 2), a set of young receivers who can get deep and grow together, and up-and-coming guys in the secondary (Phillips, Webster, Amukamara). Let Jacobs go, use a full off-season and draft to shore up LB and the O-line, and the 2012 Giants should be a contender.

The last two Giants head coaches reached the Super Bowl – the Maras and Tisches will not settle for less.

Well if they had a Hicks and Rodgers on the team, they would definitely be overrated and it would be Coughlin’s fault……….

Bring in a young guy with new ideas who’s going to have a desire to prove himself instead of a guy who expects to be handed the keys to the kingdom the day he steps inside the front door.

Don’t forget the refs literally handing them the victory against Arizona.

The problem with Coughlin is he is constantly screaming at his players during the games. It’s become so routine I’m willing to wager the players aren’t so scared of it anymore.

It’s a tough city to coach in and he’s had a hell of a run. When the moment arrives and he does leave us, he will be revered.

This gets old. But, as a Pats fan too. It’s just hilarious.

He’s not a bad coach, he is strict and that is tough but I mainly blame the wildly overrated players like Jacobs, Rodgers, Hicks, Manningham, and Tuck that the Giants have…. You can disagree…. But you know I’m right….

Sure, you’re right…except for the fact that the Giants don’t HAVE a player by the name of Rodgers on their roster. Neither do they have a players named Hicks (Hakeem Nicks, maybe)? Sorry, I couldn’t agree with Nicks or Tuck being over-rated either.
