Why would the Bears want Orton?

The Chicago media and fans already have Hanie winning the rest of their games and in the playoffs. ALMOST beating the Packers in the playoffs last year doesn’t count.
They didn’t beat the Packers in the playoffs and wont beat them in Green Bay this year.

He DOESN’T know the system. Orton has never played for Martz. The better fit is Houston, then maybe KC.

Why would the Bears claim him if they had the chance at number 30? If Orton fell that far the odds are good he would not be claimed by anyone. Denver would be on the hook for the remainder of Orton’s $2.5 million salary. Orton would be free to sign with a team of his choice albeit they say the Bears are his choice. The Bears can negotiate a new contract with him as could any other team in the league.

This just in: Anyone who thinks Orton will come in & save their respected team, please think again! As a Broncos fan and experienced Orton evaluator, he will get you a ton of yards between the 20′s, but unfortunately stall in the red zone without fail! He’s a decent enough guy, but truly, just fit to be a backup.

Am I the only one who thinks Arron Rogers comes off as arrogant and that the Packers are staring to be the Patriots of the NFC? Orten would be great but I doubt other teams will pass on him. This Bears team with a healthy Cutler could De-rail the Packers perfect season as well as defeat them in the playoffs. If Orten or Hanie can help get us there than so be it. Cutler was trying to do the right thing by tackling after throwing a pick but damn I wish he woulda pulled a Payton or Brady and walked off the field and avoided the contact. Everyone labels him as “soft” which he isn’t (try taking as many sacks as he does and getting back up) this time he wish he woulda been!

As a Steeler fan, I hope he doesnt end up in Houston. They are dead with Leinart….they’ll make it to the playoffs and get blown out like last years Chiefs. Orton would make them dangerous again, cant put 8 or 9 in the box against him. Orton can chuck it.

I hope he makes it to the Bears too, think he could get them there, if I was the Lions though, I’d take him and bench him just to screw the Bears. Not aware of their cap situation though. If the Bears are 30th on the order is true, the Lions could screw the Bears and help their playoff chances by hurting the Bears since they wanna make clear their plans

Why would Denver release him to go to the Bears when Denver plays the Bears in about three weeks? If Orton makes the Bears better, the Broncos just made their playoff run harder.

Also, I think the Lions have an incentive to claim Orton. They don’t need him, but they are battling the Bears for second place in the division, which will probably determine a wild card berth. The Lions could claim him and just squat on his rights (though they would have to pay him).

The Chiefs play the Bears in two weeks. Maybe they could claim Orton, pay him to sit for two weeks, beat the Caleb Hanie -led Bears, then release Orton.

There is nothing misleading at all. They will claim him. Other teams may also claim him. To claim him does not mean you get him. In fact you won’t if a worse team wants him.

Ummm don’t the Bears run a different offense from what the did when Orton was there? So that is a different system, and Orton in fact does not know the system. It would make much more sense to keep the guy who has practiced it for 2 years. That’s just my logical thought on it.

Agent’s statement or not, I don’t see Shanahan being interesting in signing Orton.

The Redskins are too busy trying to make it work with Grossman for now, and they know they need to find a franchise QB in the very near future. Why muddy up the waters with another marginal player at this point?

Well the Bears better hope there are no Garth Snows GMing an NFL team. Snow pulled a douche move with Nabokov last year for no other reason than he could. Stole an opportunity away from him to play with a contender.
If a team pulls in Orton simply to stop him from going to the Bears, it will only lead to more player – team distrust in the future.

His agent released a statement pretty much telling other teams not to waste their time claiming him. Says he won’t show up and that he’ll only go to Chicago. It’s only a matter of time. I doubt he starts anytime soon though. Bears are going to want to see what they have with Hanie. Orton is a good back up behind him if he starts sucking it up.

I would love if the Bears claimed him because the headline could read:

“Bears traded Kyle Orton and two first round picks for Cutler, Johnny Knox and well… Kyle Orton.”

Denver traded one pick to San Fran, and used the other for Robert Ayers, who has been a bust. They ended up with Tim Tebow.

I think the Bear won this trade.
