The next person who says signing Orton is a bad move because we could win and lose draft position is getting the back of my hand. Two points I’ll make.

One, YOU CAN TRADE UP. The job is to win games, and Orton helps do that. The job in the draft is to target someone you want, and if necessary, go get them. Pioli comes from New England, and I’m sure he’s not afraid to move around in the draft to fill the needs. So please, enough of that.

Two, the Chiefs have had much more luck picking in the mid to late section of the 1st round anyways. Our top 10 picks in recent memory… Glenn Dorsey, Tyson Jackson, Ryan Sims, Eric Berry. Mid to late round picks… Dwayne Bowe, Larrry Johnson, Tamba Hali, Derrick Johnson, Jonathan Baldwin.

Tell me again why it’s just SO important that we have a top 5 pick again?

DUMB DUMB DUMB…..trade deadline long gone…and Broncos / Chefs only played once. meet again New Years. Bad opinions are one thing but good golly….wake up.. I wonder if Kyle has realized he has to go up against Green Bay again with an even worse o-line in front of him than he had earlier in the season. Nice guy, just didn’t fit here with such a young line and not a great running game. Good luck to you, except for twice a year. GO BRONCOS!!!

Bad move for the Chiefs, good move for Orton. He will get them another win or two and that will only move them down in the draft positioning. He will get to audition for another team for next year while making $2.5 million!

We’ll see what he can do. He’s definitely more suited to KC’s personnel. The Chiefs have guys who are designed to physically win battles down the field in Bowe and Baldwin. Cassel can’t get the ball there. I don’t think Orton is any kind of long term answer, but color me a bit curious. This is a ‘nothing to lose’ move for the Chiefs. Just wish he had a running game to make it more of an honest look.

The Broncos are fighting for the playoffs so they give away their former starting QB to a divisional rival? This does absolutely nothing to help the Broncos and could wind up hurting them.

So why would Elway allow this move now? It doesn’t add up.

This is the best play KC has made all year. Even if Kyle made the Bears, he wouldnt of changed the fact that the Bears would do what they do best CHOKE. All in all though, love hiw KC has gave the Bear faithfuls something new to whine about.

Jokland seems happy with Palmer. They are 2-1 with him starting without their star RB and he has a 90.86 QB rating as a starter.

I guess if you think “happy” equals wasting a whole year of draft picks for a player that might help you for 1 season, 2 at the most. And get you to the playoffs (finally) only to get blown out when you play some real teams, you’re right.

As far as playing without their “star RB”. You really think that excuse bodes well with a Chiefs fan? That’s a whinny azz excuse. KC was w/o their “star” RB, S, and TE and destroyed Jokeland 28-0.

Veteran, knows the AFC West defenses already, has Dwayne Bowe to throw to. Not a bad thing. Chefs made a good move IMO. And the other 2 QB’s on the roster are first or second year guys. The head scratcher of all this is Dallas putting in a claim. Why?

As a Bears fan, I liked Kyle when he was here, but Martz was not here when he was. It’s a whole new system now. I can see why Orton would want to come play for a team in the playoff hunt, but not sure how much advantage there would be other than Orton knowing where the locker room is and such.

However, am I lying to myself that McCown is a better option than Orton? No. I’m hoping McCown won’t play, and Hanie rocks the house.

Good move by the Chiefs, though. Kyle’s no primadonna. He won’t stand them up. Sure, he talked to Clayton to try to discourage KC from picking him up, but talk is cheap/free. Actually standing up the Chiefs and not reporting would cost him $2.5 million. And probably more than that with the hit his reputation would take.

All this does is help the Chiefs. They have 2 remaining games that this significantly influences. The Bears game and of course the donks. Now of course hand off left or hand off right isn’t a hard offense but it’s not like Orton doesn’t know the ins and outs of the donks blocking schemes. People are saying the Chiefs are out of it yet they are only 2 games out of 1st with 6 to play. It’s not like the AFC West is strong and with winable games with the faiders, donks, Jets, and now potentially the Bears; 8-8 could win it, especially if they sweep the faiders. Sure you can check up losses to Green Bay and more than likely Pitt but KC night games still seem to have some magic so if they could steal the Pitt game, take care of the Jets, catch the Bears injured, faiders and donks suck like the rest of the West, they end up 9-7.

More realistically 7-9 but it’s not like they threw next years draft away on an average QB… Right Jokland?

It’s either ultimate payback for Orton v. Broncos in week 17, or he’ll be running for his life from Von Miller and crew.

I’d be guessing the latter. But he will have good targets in Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston and Jonathan Baldwin.

I still don’t get why the Bears even put in a claim for him. I mean, they were the 30th slot, and the 49ers and Packers weren’t going to claim him. If he would have fell to them at 30, he could have then gone unclaimed and then had at a bargain price.

Methinks there is shenanigans going on here, some sort of back-room deal between the Broncos and Bears. Something like, “Hey, cut Orton and we promise to pay his full salary”. Ask the Ravens how deals with the Bears go.

I guess his only good move is to pray that the injury Gods have eaten enough chiefs for the season….he had to have wanted out of Denver but all things considered at least his health was safe until they cut him loose. Who knows maybe the team and the insurance company will rally around him and the Chiefs can salvage something here…….Good Luck K. O.
