Jags will request 48-hour extension of blackout deadline

EverBankField

The Bengals aren’t the only team facing a Week 12 blackout.

In Jacksonville, where all non-premium seats have been sold for every game since 2010, the Jags plan to ask for a 48-hour extension in order to keep the streak alive for Sunday’s game against the Texans, according to the Florida Times-Union.

If granted, the Jags would have until 1:00 p.m. ET Saturday to sell all non-premium tickets.

Jaguars senior V.P. of sales/marketing Mackey Weaver told Vito Stellino of the Times-Union that 6,000 tickets have been donated by “businesses and individuals” to members of the military, which likely is code for the notion that those 6,000 tickets were purchased at 34 cents on the dollar, as league rules permit. (Unless, of course, the Jags somehow persuaded those “businesses and individuals” to pay full price.)

The team’s website reportedly says that 7,635 tickets remain, but Weaver told Stellino that the figure hadn’t been updated.

It’s safe to say the Jags wouldn’t be having this problem if they’d drafted the quarterback with the five-letter last name who played college football in the vicinity of Jacksonville.
