Every Wednesday, we get a glimpse at the big-name folks who may or may not be playing, based on whether and to what extent they practice. Some Wednesdays, we remember to post something about it.

Last night, I forgot. But, hey, early Thursday is roughly the same thing.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger (broken thumb) practiced on a limited basis. Ditto for linebacker LaMarr Woodley (hamstring).

Cardinals quarterback Kevin Kolb practiced on a limited basis, as he continues to recover from turf toe. Coach Ken Whisenhunt has said that, if Kolb can’t play, John Skelton will start, even though Skelton was benched last week for Richard Bartel.

Raiders who didn’t practice include receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey (neck), running back Taiwan Jones (hamstring), running back Darren McFadden (foot), receiver Denarius Moore (foot), and defensive tackle Richard Seymour (knee).

In Buffalo, apart from the season-ending injuries to running back Fred Jackson (calf), cornerback Terrence McGee (knee), and receiver Donald Jones (ankle), receiver Stevie Johnson once again has missed practice with a shoulder injury.

For the Jets, running back LaDainian Tomlinson still isn’t practicing, 10 days after Pats receiver/cornerback Julian Edelman dove at Tomlinson’s knees. Receiver Jeremy Kerley (knee) also hasn’t practiced, and quarterback Mark Sanchez appeared on the injury report as fully participating in practice with a neck injury.

Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton (right shoulder) and receiver A.J. Green (knee) practiced on a limited basis. Green missed Sunday’s loss to the Ravens.

Texans safety Danieal Manning, who’s recovering from a broken bone in his leg, practiced on a limited basis. Receiver Andre Johnson fully participated in practice, and he’s on track to start in Jacksonville on Sunday.

As expected, Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice with a sprained ankle. Also, the team’s top two tight ends missed practice, Visanthe Shiancoe with a hamstring injury and rookie Kyle Rudolph with a quadricep injury.

Falcons receiver Julio Jones missed practice, as he continues to deal with a hamstring injury.

Pats receiver Wes Welker (knee) practiced on a limited basis.

Eagles receiver Jeremy Maclin (hamstring, shoulder) practiced on a limited basis. Receiver DeSean Jackson (foot), tackle King Dunlap (concussion), cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie (ankle), and quarterback Mike Vick (ribs) didn’t practice.

Titans quarterback Matt Hasselbeck (elbow) practiced on a limited basis.

Redskins safety LaRon Landry (Achilles) fully participated in practice, as did receiver Santana Moss, who has recovered from a broken hand.

The next wave of practice reports will come on Thursday, with a final probable-questionable-doubtful-out designation coming Friday.
