Asomugha’s injury not believed to be serious

Nnamdi Asomugha, Ahmad Bradshaw AP

Nnamdi Asomugha’s practice injury on Thursday isn’t as bad as it first looked.

Asomugha was carted off the field with a knee injury, but it appears the injury isn’t overly serious. Reuben Frank of CSNPhilly.com reports Asomugha’s knee has no structural damage.

It shouldn’t be a “long-term” injury, but it’s unclear if Asomugha will be able to suit up Sunday against the Patriots. The Eagles are expected to be without Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie when they face the Patriots.

    HERE’S A THEORY:

Raiders get royally screwed by officials each and every year. This, is nothing new. However, yesterday’s Raiders-Vikings game officials should’ve had ski-masks on for that stick-up job.

Could it be a coincidence that this blatant, ugly bias by the officials happens just when Tebowmania is taking off and the Denver Broncos all of a sudden have a chance in the division? Who doesn’t think the NFL would like to squeeze every last drop it can out of the Tebow publicity? Broncos making the playoffs would certainly extend that story.

Sadly, Raiders may have to overcome an 11-on-18 playing field each week from here on out or until someone puts Tebowmania out of its misery.

Heres a theory: raiders are undisciplined and dirty. Thats that.

You’re completely off base, tough doesn’t mean dirty and undisciplined.

Is it me or do raider fans always whine and think everyones out to get them. Yea, I guess its the refs fault that the raiders havent made the postseason since the 2002 season. Sounds like you’re scared of Tebow.

  7. boilerup1869 says: Nov 24, 2011 8:21 PM

I gotta admit I didn’t even bother to read the first comment in its entirety. I just thumbs-down comments that start dumb and look like they’ll continue to be dumb.

  8. norcaleagles says: Nov 24, 2011 8:23 PM

JOETORONTO, ok maybe all the constant flags mean “undisciplined”?? Arent the raiders anually near the top of the league in penalties?

  9. norcaleagles says: Nov 24, 2011 8:28 PM

Raider fans: Even though the “tuck rule” was the right call, you fans still say it was wrong and thats why the league changed the rule. But I remember watching highlights of the raiders fumbling the ball in a playoff game and purposely kept knocking the ball forward until the ball got into the endzone(which was legal back then) and they scored a TD. Since then, the league has changed that rule and that is now illegal to do. So do you guys think the refs were siding with the raiders on that play? You get some calls, and you get screwed on some calls. It goes both ways. Stop being paraniod and thinking the NFL is out to get you.

How did this whole thread turn into a Raider’s forum?
Shouldn’t we be talking about the fact that it doesn’t matter who suits up for the Eagles secondary…Brady and the Pats are going to destroy them.
Vince Young at QB? Oh my word.

Regardless of how bad the injury is, the “dream” is over come sunday evening. They are overhyped and I am sick of every so-called expert saying Reid is a great coach. He can’t manage the clock and he helps make bad personnel decisions for this team. Good luck in 2012!

  12. raider316 says: Nov 24, 2011 10:18 PM

    norcaleagles

    Get your facts straight dude.
First, the NFL never changed the Tuck rule.

Second, The fumble you speak of wasn’t in a playoff game it was during the regular season when the Raiders finished 7 -9

Third, you are a uninformed ignorant doofus

  13. raiderman41 says: Nov 24, 2011 10:27 PM

    Norcaleagles:

First of all, the game against San Diego was during the regular season, not a playoff game.

Secondly, you apparently have not watched many Raiders games or you would feel differently. We were screwed out of a repeat Super Bowl performance while playing against Denver in 1977, when Rob Lytle fumbled the ball as soon as he hit our line. We recovered and ran it back for what would have been the winning TD. The only thing is that the refs never saw him fumble and ruled him down. Add in the Immaculate Deception, the Tuck Bowl and the Tony Siragusa body slam of Rich Gannon that was even flagged although it broke Gannon’s collarbone and Raider fans begin to believe that the NFL refs are against them. Add in a few more strange calls over the years, including the game against San Diego in which a Charger receiver catches the ball, falls to the ground and isn’t touched but gets up and spins the ball. Oakland recovers but it is ruled an illegal forward pass. Or the game against Seattle when our safety intercepted the ball at the 3 yard line but slides into the endzone and is touched by a Seattle player. Not only isn’t the play ruled a touchback, but Seattle gets two points for a safety and the Raiders have to punt the ball back to Seattle

In last week’s game Raiders fans saw three very questionable personal foul calls called against their team — on the opening drive! Even the announcers questioned those calls, saying that maybe one was deserved.

As for the Tuck Rule game, that, too, was a terrible call, as Brady had both hands on the ball which was against his chest when he fumbled.’at every level of football, from Pee Wee to high school. College and even the Canadian Football League, that was a fumble.

Yes, we Raiders fans think the refs are against us. Nthe players have changed. The coaches have changed. But one thing has remained constant– the Raiders are always among the most penalized. How else can anyone explain this fact, except to think that the refs are stacked against us.

  14. rozz513 says: Nov 24, 2011 10:42 PM

Guys, look every team gets questionable calls for and against. Just because you remember them from 30 some years ago doesn’t mean it happens to your team more than any other. Get over it. Can’t change it nor do anything about it.

  15. dboskie says: Nov 24, 2011 11:11 PM

I love how an Eagles post turns into a whine session for Raiders fans. SHUT UP already. Last time I checked you have a couple of Super Bowl wins in your resume. Maybe the constant reason you have always been penalized is because of the lack of accountability in this are from the top of your organization.
Face it, Big Al was never a man that really focused on discipline. Remember “Just Win Baby”! The one constant in all of your supposed ref conspiracy theory examples is the big man at the top. Al was a great man, and owner for a long period in this league, but he was never a stickler for detail in regards to his tolerance for his teams penalties.
I am not even a Raiders fan, but where is the whining about the refs in the years you did win the Super Bowl.
All that matters is that you did beat my squad the Vikes this past week and you are set up to make a run at a division title. Quit worrying about the refs and focus on your hurt players.
One last thing, until you have walked a mile in a Vikings fans shoes, you have no reason to complain! ENJOY THE SEASON!

The idiot with the raider theory as simply based around the idea that he hates Tim Tebow. Dude, what’s your problem? Why do you hate this guy so much? You know who you should hate, the press for constantly talking about him and following his every move. Don’t blame him, he’s doing what he’s suppose to do. STOP OBSESSING ABOUT THE GUY AND ENJOY THE FOOTBALL.

  18. rayc91 says: Nov 25, 2011 6:57 AM

Please excuse all these comments from these supposed “raider fans”. I might agree that the officiating from the zebras are out of hand but don’t come her and complain about it. We need to own It and not whine about it on message boards. What does tebow have to to do with any of this? This article is about the eagles and asomugha, nothing else!

nobody wants to talk about the eagles…the dream is over…wake up!

    Hey, Raiderman —

How about Ray “Sugar Bear” Hamilton’s phantom roughing-the-passer call on Kenny Stabler in 1976? Was that part of the conspiracy, too?

  21. n0hopeleft says: Nov 25, 2011 10:29 AM

The Eagles are the choke artists of the century.

    Dear Raider Nation:

“Just win, baby” is Al Davis’ motto. However, the league and its officials are not beholden to Al’s opinion and actually need to enforce the rules. Sorry if not letting you do anything you want to win cramps your style.
