David Buehler tells Jerry Jones: “I am in shape”

Mat McBriar, David Buehler AP

After Cowboys kicker David Buehler went down for the season with a groin injury, owner Jerry Jones suggested that the injury was Buehler’s fault for not keeping himself in top shape.

Buehler begs to differ: He says that he has taken care of his body and simply had bad luck in aggravating a groin injury that he first suffered in Week 2 against the 49ers.

I am in shape,” Buehler told Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com.

Buehler said he was doing everything he was supposed to do to stay healthy, and it just didn’t work.

“It’s definitely frustrating dealing with this,” Buehler said. “I was never really 100 percent since I came back from the 49ers and I was trying to get it as close to 100 percent as possible. All injuries are frustrating and it’s frustrating not being able to be out on that field. So I’m doing everything I can to get healthy and get right. I was doing everything before I re-tore it. Just trying to get right and it’s frustrating not being where I want to be physically.”

The Cowboys had Buehler on the roster for kickoffs and long field goals, and undrafted rookie kicker Dan Bailey on short field goals. Jones isn’t happy with Buehler, but everyone in Dallas is happy with Bailey right now.

I’m a long time Boys fan and even I have absolutely no interest in this.

He is probably the only kicker in the NFL who could actually lay out a hit and then get into a scrap and win it right after. Well maybe Sebass of Oakland, you get kicked once by that guy and you are out cold.

It must feel awesome for Cowboys fans to know that their IR kicker is in good shape.

Um…..waste of a roster spot to have 2 kickers and a punter. Bye Bye Buehler ! Welcome to free agency early. So far Dan Bailey is nails and is probably half the price.

No offense to him, but let it go and ask for your release.

The big accomplishment was the hold under pressure. I was expecting a fumble for sure

Sorry David, you lost your spot. Good luck in free agency

Buehler is probably the strongest and fastest kicker in NFL history, but he still can’t make field goals so as I look in my crystal ball I see him kickin cans on the street.

He could be a special teams gunner/back up LB.

I hope David sues Jerry for having the practice facility fall on his head 2 years ago. Maybe that would shut Jerry up.

Hey Jerrah……..ya want to comment about the shape and conditioning your “Randy Moss wannabe” named Dez Bryant has been in for hmmmmmm the last two years!!!! Leave it to Jerrah to have the gonads to pick on a kicker but certainly not his pet Dez.
