A week off isn’t expected to chance Hines Ward’s spot in the Steelers receiver rotation.
Ward is expected to stay on the bench, according to multiple Pittsburgh newspaper reports this week. Antonio Brown remains a starter. Jerricho Cotchery and possibly Emmanuel Sanders could play ahead of Ward.
“That is to be determined,” coach Mike Tomlin said earlier this week via Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. “We will do what is best in terms of giving us an opportunity to win this game.”
Ward would love to get 19 more catches to reach 1,000 for his career, but that’s looking unlikely to happen.
The Beaver County Times also reports that linebacker Lamarr Woodley is expected to miss his third straight game.
