Kyle Orton’s first action in a Chiefs uniform is going to wait at least a week.

Orton didn’t arrive to Kansas City until Friday, where he joined the team for his first practice. With such little time to get ready, Tyler Palko will start at quarterback against the Steelers and rookie Ricky Stanzi will be the backup according to the Kansas City Star.

Todd Haley wouldn’t rule out Orton being active as the team’s third receiver, but said he won’t make that decision until closer to gametime.

The Chiefs won’t commit to Orton starting next week, but we suspect they wouldn’t have claimed Orton unless they planned to use him as soon as he’s up to speed on the offense.
