Packers linebacker Walden released from jail

E. Waldenmug

Packers linebacker Erik Walden will not be charged at present for a domestic incident that caused him to spend the weekend in jail.

Paul Srubas of the Green Bay Press-Gazette reports that Walden is due back in court on December 7 after getting released on Monday.

The district attorney says police need to determine whether Walden or girlfriend initiated contact during an altercation. The alleged victim has changed her story since first calling police.

She now claims to have started the fight, with Walden defending himself.

Of course her story is changing, she doesn’t want to give up her meal ticket.

  2. thehatefulnerd says: Nov 28, 2011 4:40 PM

She didn’t call the police. The hospital called the police. She told local news she fell and injured herself the night before.

So she initiates contact and doesn’t get flagged? what up with that. That should be an automatic first down for Walden

What he actually said is “There’s no indication that Mr. Walden ever struck her with any kind of fist of that sort but the question is what precipitated the contact with her injuries. There’s a lot to sort through at this point… It may be she says she never really did change her story, that is what she said from the get-go and it was misreported.”

sounds similar to the Chris Cook situation in MN to me, as well as the Brandon Underwood deal in Green bay. Who knows what the truth really is? once these women have time to cool off and come to the realization that the felony conviction is a threat to her family’s livelihood, the story starts to change.

it’s really sad, that somebody would place greater value on money than on their own self-respect, dignity, and safety/health.

I think part of the problem is that a big aggressive football player is going to be perceived as guilty unless otherwise noted.

It isn’t fair, however this seems to have happened a fair bit.

Could also be that there was a misunderstanding between them, she got mad, and wanted to get even.

Who knows, let’s let it play out and hope that it wasn’t the player causing all this ruckus.

    One of two things happened:

    1. Walden assaulted her, and she’s changing her story to keep him from getting in trouble.

    2. She attacked Walden and got injured when he defended himself and/or retaliated.

Both of these scenarios play out frequently. Good luck to anyone trying to figure it out.

Either way, unless they have children together, it’d probably be best for both of them to go their separate ways.

Of course he hasn’t been charged. He’s a Packer! Somewhere Karen Rodgers and Jordy Nelson are asking for a P.I. penalty on this. What a shame if it’s found to be true.

Who is Karen Rodgers? Is that the name of the girlfriend? How does she know Jordy Nelson? I knew this was more involved than everyone thought. Wow, we would never get all the facts if it weren’t for guys like you. Keep up the good work.

What he actually said was another sports figure not responsable for his actions.

He must feel really tough, beating up on a woman.

joetoronto, I’ll cut you some slack because you’re a Black Holer but which part of “There’s no indication that Mr. Walden ever struck her with any kind of fist of that sort” is tough to grasp?

Karen Rodgers is the official team statistician for the Minnesota Vikings. She keeps track of all the numbers recorded by the Vikings such as TD’s, wins, MVP’s, Hall of Fame inductees, and NFL Championships. Obviously she is only a part time employee and I hear may be laid off due to lack of work?

I was a Prosecutor for years. This happens all the time. The thing is, she may be NOW telling the truth. There is just no way to tell.

It’s a real shame when any person, including a Packer fan would condone physical abuse just because the idiot is a football player for their team. Like a few posters pointed out, it is not unusual for a female victim of abuse to change her story when she realizes that it might be the end of her meal ticket…….but the changing of her story certainly doesn’t not acquit the idiot of guilt. It is cases like this that most modern day police departments rely on extensive forensic evidence to prove their case when the victim decides to save her meal ticket. Now it will all depend on whether or not the Green Bay authorities even know what forensic evidence is….much less collected it.

Follow the money…..is she backtracking to save her meal ticket, or did she make up the whole thing to shake down the man? Either way it’s about the money…it’s always about the money…

I am from Green Bay… Do you want to know why the Packers do not get in trouble with the law..?

It is because the police will most likely not arrest a Packer player if they are caught doing a minor crime. (ie – drug possession, assault and even drunk driving).

The only time Packer players are arrested is if something major happens or if it is required by law that the police get involved. Such is the case for domestic violence.

I would be willing to bet my share of Green Bay Packers stock that more that a few players have been pulled over and escorted home from the police for an offense they could have been charged for.

The police in Green Bay are some of the biggest Packer fans around! Do you think they want to be part of the reason one of the guys gets suspended?????? You have to love the home field advantage!

    GO PACK GO

Unless she had an AK-47 or is an Ultimate Fighting champ, how does Walden have to “protect himself” hard enough to send her to the hospital?

  23. snixxx says: Nov 29, 2011 10:35 PM

The latest news is Ndamakong Suh is the one that initiated the contact on Erik Walden’s girlfriend…
