As far as Greta, how quickly you forget what drove that. It was Ted Thompson himself who struck first with that news conference where he laid out that exaggerated and skewed timeline (drafted by the same guy who lied to the Nation about WMDs in Iraq) about the events that led up to that point. I don’t blame Favre at all for feeling the need to defend himself against it.

As far as his so called “backhanded” compliment, I think the fact that some people in Wisconsin were so quick to think it was backhanded were the same ones easily manipulated by Flesher’s smear campaign. Favre can’t say anything good about the Packers without sheep like you turning it into something it isn’t.

By sitting behind a veteran franchise QB – a la Rogers on the bench behind Favre – in the day in age of the new CBA that effectively means Luck would have to willingly give up $30 million to $60 million to bide his time on the bench.

There’s only one historical precedent here, and that’s San Francisco with Joe Montana. You have to trade Manning to a QB hungry team who’ll give a haul of picks to help build around Luck. Heck, you could trade him to Kansas City just like Montana.

Manning, Jamaal Charles, Dwayne Bowe, Steve Breaston, Jonathan Baldwin, Tony Moeaki…..that could be seriously frightening to line up against.

Depends who Miami gets in as head coach and GM, but I wouldnt really bet on Miami , either.

Indy is a small market with a poor fanbase. Hell, the Bears are as popular in Indiana as the Colts. They have been successful for the last decade because of the outrageous ability of their QB. Their drafting in the last few years has been poor. They have an aging team with few skill players to surround Luck. His endorsement money in the mid west will be garbage.

If I were luck, I would pull an Eli Manning. Let the Polians know that you won’t play for them. Buy a big insurance policy and go back to school for your last year and hope for a better overall situation such as Miami etc. I just can’t see any good reason for Luck to want to play for the Colts. He will forever be compared to Manning which is only natural, but will be almost impossible to live up to. Besides, the owner is a goof ball and the front office is in disarray. Not the situation that a smart kid from Stanford would want to select.

Aaron Rodgers being good got the public on Ted Thompson’s side. Winning a Super Bowl with Rodgers got the public on Thompson’s side. Favre going on Greta Van Sustren saying his goal was to “stick it to Ted” got the public on Thompson’s side. Favre calling Matt Millen to give away strategy, Favre playing for the Vikings, Favre saying things like “real Packer fans would understand…,” Favre rooting against the Packers (see his advice to Julius Peppers), Favre’s backhanded compliments towards Rodgers, and countless other things Favre has done to make himself look bad have put the public on Thompson’s side. All Thompson hiring Fleischer did was highlight how Ted is incapable of normal human interaction.

There’s no way he’s done and I don’t think he’s convinced he’s done or he would be out of sight out of mind. So, he’ll retire, the Colts will then not re sign him for the 28 million or so and I anticipate he’ll play for another team in a different division next year.

He will need the whole offseason to condition, there’s no way he comes back to even practice this yearand I think retiring gives him the time to re condition then comeback and not be on anyone’s time frame but his own. But I just don’t think he’s done playing football.
