Dolphins wideout Brandon Marshall was briefly handcuffed and detained by cops in mid-November after he was accused of trying to ditch a $142 cab fare.

Elgin Jones of the South Florida Times has the details about a story which is ultimately more odd than meaningful.

“He didn’t know where he wanted to go,” Marshall’s cab driver said. “When I woke him up and told him he had to pay, he said he wasn’t and started arguing for me to take him home.”

At one point, Marshall jumped out of the cab he was in and left in another cab. Authorities were called and eventually Marshall paid the fare and apologized to both drivers.

Marshall and his agent blamed the misunderstanding on not being able to understand the cab driver’s accent. You know, that old excuse.
