Marshawn Lynch goes beast mode, Eagles’ defense has no answer

Marshawn Lynch AP

Marshawn Lynch is in full-on beast mode tonight.

Lynch has the Seahawks leading the Eagles 14-7 in the early going in Seattle, with two sensational touchdown runs, as the Eagles’ defense can’t do a thing about him.

The first touchdown was a sight to behold, as Lynch ran into the line, was swallowed up in a sea of humanity, and somehow managed to break free and run 15 yards for a score. On the second touchdown, Lynch took a handoff up the middle, cut to the right and sprinted to the end zone for 40 yards.

So far, early in the second quarter, Philadelphia’s much-maligned run defense has allowed Lynch to gain 84 yards on seven carries.

The Eagles got on the board with a LeSean McCoy one-yard touchdown run, set up by a 47-yard pass from Vince Young to Riley Cooper, to make the score 14-7 Seahawks.

You sound just like Celtics fan, circa 2007, when they wanted their team to tank so that they could draft Greg Oden with the first pick.

No real fan roots for their team to lose…no matter what.

  5. turk2875 says: Dec 1, 2011 9:27 PM

He just put the team on his back dohh. In all honesty how bad can a defense look against the run? This team cannon tackle to save their lives (or jobs). This is pathetic.

  6. qtownchawk says: Dec 1, 2011 9:29 PM

mayock: “lynch gets nothing on this run…oh wait..lynch breaks the tackle..touchdown!”

  7. tdrundmc says: Dec 1, 2011 9:29 PM

that’s really pathetic because marshawn lynch isn’t very good.

Andy Reid gets a little too much credit… Sure, we make playoffs almost every year but look at the kinda teams that stop us once we get there. Tampa Bay, Arizona, hmm… Trust me, I respect Andy Reid and appreciate what he’s done for us. He’s the best coach we’ve had since the superbowl era began. He can take us no further though. Our team is a MESS!!!!

We need an entire new coaching staff. Our defense is an absolute joke. The players arent disciplined. Right now I’m watching DeSean Jackson ignore Vince Young.

SOMEONE NEEDS TO FIX THIS TEAM!!!

  17. circuit2063 says: Dec 1, 2011 9:51 PM

I heard from an Eagles scout that Reid has his eye on a 29 year old left guard coming out in this year’s draft

Lynch deserves a new contract. He has proven himself behind a second string oline.

  26. baldingerspinky says: Dec 1, 2011 10:00 PM

  29. trollhammer20 says: Dec 1, 2011 10:06 PM

Over the last four games (soon to be five), Lynch has been the most productive RB in the league. Maybe it’s a “contract year” thing, but if Seattle doesn’t resign this guy this guy in the offseason, they’d be making a huge mistake.

  30. Reggie's Bush says: Dec 1, 2011 10:06 PM

2 time outs at the end of the half, and 1:07 left on the clock.

Reid decides not to use a time out and gets the ball back with about 18 seconds left. Pete Carroll must have been ecstatic

  34. theysone says: Dec 1, 2011 10:10 PM

The wide 9 is a gimmick that’s an absolute joke against the run.

Side note: Desean Jackson looks like randy moss in his raider days, complete lack of effort. He’s obviously mailing it in, in a contract year.

special shot outs to michael irvin, deion sanders, mariuchi, marshall faulk, and numerous journalists on sports radio for not giving us a chance to compete, better yet beat philly.

a quick stat for the tjax haters: 81% of his passes were completed..not bad for a guy with a torn peck and bicep, and dont forget seattles #1 wr was out.

lynch with another classic highlight reel tough td

including zach miller in the pass game helps.

golden tate is finally coming into form. michael robinson had a huge game. okung is a beast.

I havent even gotten started on the d. leroy hill and heater hawthorne held it down.

ill say it again, pete caroll has changed the culture of this team. past three seasons, this game woulda been ovwr with by the second half.

fun game to watch. go hawks.

  49. shaggytoodle says: Dec 2, 2011 12:45 AM

I have no problem with Lynch’s game and have cheered for him since he was in college, reguardless of the mistakes he made off field. He is a hell of a RB.

I still laugh at all the people that hated on Ted Thomspon for acquiring him after Grant went down last season.

  50. snoqualmieterry says: Dec 2, 2011 12:47 AM

The people that say Lynch can’t run? What drugs are they on? Name me one RBI that gets more yards after first contact. His legs don’t stop until he is on the ground. He carries defensive players 2 or more yards. Lynch haters quit drinking that cheap beer.

  51. hawkman84 says: Dec 2, 2011 2:10 AM

    @qtownchawk:

That’s bc 3 seasons ago we had a GM who didn’t know how to draft, esp. O and D linemen.

I wouldn’t say Petey C has “changed the culture” around here, per say–we have been accustomed to winning more often than not in the not-so-long-ago past, during the Holmgren days before Ruskell contaminated this franchise–but Pete (AND JOHN SCHNEIDER, just as importantly) has made this defense a hell of a lot tougher and stronger, which complements/supplements our offense.

Can you just imagine what it would be like to play against us if we had Holmgren’s offense led by a deadly efficient Matt Hasselbeck(being protected by an O-line NOT featuring the likes of Locklear and Spencer) and this brand of ‘Hawks defense of today?!!!

We would practically be a Dream Tea…….

Uh, well….let’s just say we would be pretty tough to beat.

The Seahawks are on the right track. Ignore the record. Pete is doing all the right things and putting the pieces in place for a serious run in the near future.

Jackson had a great night but he isn’t the long term solution at QB.

Getting Lynch was a steal. He is coming into his own as an elite runner. Golden Tate is starting to show signs that he can be the elite receiver everyone thought he should be.

Seahawks are dangerous, Carroll is quietly building a winner.

  54. polishkingski says: Dec 2, 2011 4:11 AM

lynch is a perfect example of why the bills have trouble fielding a good team. he hated the small town attitude and it rubs some guys the wrong way. when they drafted him i was so happy because i thought he was going to be a battering ram with a juke here and there, making defenders miss in the november and december snow slicked home field. as sad as it is i really think the franchise is doomed here in western ny. don`t get me wrong, it is a beautiful place to raise a family or to hunt and fish but thats not exactly a calling card for rich young atheletes from the south or west coast. thanks for the memories ralph.
