McClain allegedly held victim at gunpoint

Rolando McClain AP

More details have come out regarding the arrest of Raiders linebacker Rolando McClain in Alabama Thursday.

According to the victim in the case, McClain allegedly held a gun to the victim’s head. The victim begged McClain not to shoot him, according to Seth Burkett and Bayne Hughes of the Decatur Daily.

Instead, McClain held his gun next to the victim’s head and fired the gun into the air. The victim in the case had previously been in an altercation with another man and was bleeding from the nose and mouth when he spoke to police.

DecaturDaily.com has a picture of McClain being handcuffed Thursday.  He smiles widely for the camera.  McClain is being charged with third-degree assault, menacing, reckless endangerment and discharging a firearm.  They are all misdemeanors.

McClain is recovering from an ankle injury and seems certain to miss this week’s game. He’s a captain of the defense and calls the team’s defensive plays.

yep, i can see it now, please write me a check rolondo, and we can settle this out of court.

I just have to wonder why the police would not arrest somebody immediatley for attempted murder….maybe because this guy has his version, rolondo has his, and somewhere between the two of them there is the truth.

I can’t blame the NFL more throwing a flag on this one… I just hope this report isn’t accurate. This would be a HUGE disappoint first, and a huge loss to the second. When will athletes and people for that matter learn?

  40. jdcush31 says: Dec 1, 2011 6:59 PM

I’m not so sure he won’t play this next game. Hue said he would play regardless of his injury. Granted that was before his arrest, but the charges are misdemeanors and he is already out of jail.

FTR, Decatur is deep south ghetto. Rolando grew up and played his high school ball there. Guess the guy can’t get the hood rat outta his system. He needs to seriously defrag his hard drive.

Ok everyone, let’s put this in perspective. They were all misdameanors so everyone can stop talking about him getting thrown in prison. I’m no law expert, but I doubt it can be that serious if they let him go on a $2,000 bond. Remember as well that there are two sides to every story and the accuser was put charged as well. For everyone comparing this to Plax remember that he would have got a slap on the wrist in any other state, NY’s gun laws put him in prison.

With all that being said, pull your head out of your ass Rolando. This is the second time you have put your career and life in jeopardy by hanging out in the wrong places. Wake up!

Between this and his play on the field I am pretty disapointed. I don’t think I was ever as excited about a Raider draft pick, but I have just not seen the production and he has blown a lot of assignments. He is only 22 and I still think he will be a pro-bowl caliber LB. He just needs to focus on football….. and the smiling pic, C’mon Man!

Just look at his face in that picture on the left – it’s obvious McClain thinks this is a big joke, haha. Clearly he doesn’t “get it.”

I was hoping the Broncos were going to be able to draft him but Josh McDaniels had other deviant plans of destruction.

This is serious but I’m sure he’ll get off with just a little love tap on the butt by a judge. Maybe probation, a little service to the community, anger management classes, nothing like you or I would get from the law for such a transgression.

Prediction – this won’t be the last problem with the law McClain has if he is enabled by the legal system.

McClain was not fooled by this individual, who called himself Bill Clay.

    oh well well well. Hans.

    haha. die hard joke.

  116. nflhof says: Dec 1, 2011 10:10 PM

So where are joetoronto’s deep thoughts on this?

  117. ssmraiders says: Dec 1, 2011 10:33 PM

I have been reading pro football talk for a long time and always love the comments. Today I signed up for an account because I cant handle all this nonsense. McClain has no recard all charges are misdemeanors. NO JAIL TIME. Secondly, all these “football fans” saying he sucks dont know anything about football. The kid is a beast, heart and soul of the raiders D. Without him we are screwed. We have an amazing Defense that is run by a 24 year old. Kid has so much talent and if he stays outta the hood he is and I quote a “future hall of famer.” Smarten up kid. Your my favorite football player. RAIDER NATION

    I BLEED BLACK AND SILVER

  118. titsburgfeelers says: Dec 1, 2011 10:42 PM

I no its hard for the Raiders and their fans to have Everyone talking about the better TEAM in the AFC west (the BRONCOS). But if this what you want us to talk about your Team than OK!!

  121. bigcatdaddy says: Dec 1, 2011 10:52 PM

    raider…soon to be bengal.

Its the other way around these days. The Bengals are sending all their loosers to the Raiders. Do they a draft pick for this to. LMFAO!

  122. 1bigtex says: Dec 1, 2011 10:56 PM

    @ nflhof

In defense of joetoronto, he’s already come out on a previous thread and called McClain an “idiot”. I’ve had my own differences with joetoronto, but in this case, he was spot on.

  123. nflwatcher says: Dec 1, 2011 10:58 PM

Note to self- don’t be the last to finish the purple drank around Rolando.

  124. lookatthefarside says: Dec 1, 2011 10:59 PM

Isnt this type of behavior required if you sign as a Raider? It seems to be the case.

  125. nflofficeadmin says: Dec 1, 2011 11:02 PM

As a raider fan this is an embarrassment. If it’s true, cut him.

  126. sullijo1 says: Dec 1, 2011 11:46 PM

So, I can point a loaded gun at somebody’s head and then shoot it in the air while threatening him…..and get out of jail the same night with misdemeanor charges????

WTF???? Really????? Something is not right there…

    …Good.

    He sucks anyhow.

Aaron Curry, Kamerion Wimbley & Quentin Groves can pick up the slack. It’s not like McClain made the Raiders linebacker core any better.
    ______________________________
I gotta agree with War27 on this one. It is a totally different position. Curry is in Oakland because Groves wasn’t cutting it. If Blackstock plays anything like he did in the Denver game this will end badly. McClain needs to make some new friends, but if they were really his friends they would tell him to stay away anyhow.

  129. raiderspride says: Dec 2, 2011 12:50 AM

There are time in life when we need a positive out look on bad stories… We need a positive slant on a story like this.

“He is not involved, or has anything to do with America’s number one active mass murder who is responsible for the unsolved murders of 10 bodies found on the beach in the community of Oak Bay, Long Island N.Y.”

That is the positive slant I can put on this story.

  130. raideralex99 says: Dec 2, 2011 1:08 AM

126 replys … all the Raider haters are out in full force … that must mean the Raiders are in first place and it’s driving the haters nuts … ha ha ha.

Haven’t read through all the comments yet, so someone might’ve already mentioned this but… what is the deal with football players and guns???

Someone please explain this to me!

  134. hedleykow says: Dec 2, 2011 2:15 AM

Alabama? Don’t the Raiders practice or have team meetings or anything on Thursdays? What is missing from this story?

  135. rwf1984 says: Dec 2, 2011 2:16 AM

Not to be mean, but if players keep doing this the penalties are going to be even more severe as they keep happening. I think they should that way they keep it inside their head when situations like this come up. I liked McClain, but now it is hard to imagine what type of punishment he will get if guilty or not guilty even. I am just wowed over this!!!!!

  138. joetoronto says: Dec 2, 2011 5:52 AM

As much as the Raiders need him, (they have nobody else to play MLB that’s worth a damn) he should be let go immediately, IMO.

Contrary to the ignorant posts here by some, the Raiders have been relatively squeaky clean for years now, some idiot actually said “Al Davis would be proud”, No, Al Davis would have cut him ASAP.

Hue, take out the friggin trash.

  139. bertcampaneris says: Dec 2, 2011 7:06 AM

Sheesh. Who does this guy think he is? A Raven?

  140. jakethegrift says: Dec 2, 2011 9:19 AM

Hate to say it, but suspend him for the rest of the year without pay, or release and suspend him. The Raiders have been on a roll, and this distraction can only cause a potential road block in winning the AFC West. I do not want any distraction of this type on our team. I hope the Raiders, and the commissioner’s office do the right thing in the best interest of the club.

  141. thegreatness34 says: Dec 2, 2011 9:36 AM

Two words…..Alabama, Oakland. Is anyone surprised??

  142. richkotitte says: Dec 6, 2011 1:52 PM
