Jamarcus can play. There wasn’t any complaints about his play in 2008. He had an impressive first year as a starter.

He regressed in 2009 because he had Tom Cable as a play caller, a air Coryell passing game coordinator in Tollner, a west coast offensive QB coach in Paul Hackett, no offensive coordinator, two rookie WRs, and a horrible O-Line.

Jamarcus had pulled off so many 4th quarter comebacks only to have the defense give up the game losing TD or FG.

Jamarcus was the lightning rod for Tom Cable’s horrible head coaching…Gradkowski was functional because he was mobile with tremendous pocket awareness. He could scramble and improvise when a Tom Cable play didnt work. Jamarcus was a pocket passer.

The only way he will be back (and successful) in
the NFL is if he falls in love with playing football.

If he actually signs with the Louisiana Whatevers, it would finally be an indication that he is willing to do what he needs to do to return to the NFL — that is, prove to NFL decision-makers that he wants to play in the NFL badly enough to go to a lesser league to demonstrate that, if he gets another chance, it won’t be the disaster that it was the first time. If that is what he truly wants, I hope he succeeds. If a rumor is all this truly is, or if he plays minor league football just to pay the bills, that will become evident soon enough. The effort that he puts into his preparation and his play will indicate whether it’s just for the money or if he has rediscovered a love for the game.
