I get the feeling that the “made of glass” opinion is held by people for whom the biggest risk of injury comes from when they have to use their Cheeto-stained fingers to replace the batteries in their Xbox remote.

Seamonkeys had Walter Jones (probable HOF’er) at that spot for, what, a decade(!?) and since injuries ended his career, it’s been a glaring weakness. Okung does all right at LT…when he’s on the field.
Can’t help the club when you’re sittin’ in the tub.

I could care less about either team…. but I fail to see how this is any different from Suh stomping on a guy. We hear all about how players have to be able to shut off their adrenaline and mean streak when it isn’t necessary and this is a similar example.

We can call Okung fragile, but the fact of the matter is that the injury didn’t have to happen and Cole’s act was the definition of “unnecessary roughness” – It simply wasn’t necessary.

I’d suspend him a game. $25K fines don’t seem to have much affect anymore….It was more in the context of the play than Suh (which was waaaay after), but still an action that didn’t need to happen.

It’s why ligaments pop left and right in the NFL, or a guy tears a pectoral, from what might appear to be the same motions we all went through as kids.

What Trent Cole did to Okung may not look particularly malicious, but it showed a clear lack of awareness about what might happen to a 300+ linemen when you yank his arm across your SHOULDER PADS and pull all of his weight down onto one pectoral.
