If you check the details, they didn’t get the suspension from the grace test, they failed again after the grace and that is what got them the suspension.

Just so everyone understands, they failed a test during the regular season, that is why they got suspended.

They were part of an agreement with the NFL for 11 players to not get suspended for the grace.

Legal / Illegal is irrelevant, this has been against the rules for years now, just remember Ricky Williams.

How many of us could tell our employer, “um, this drug test was unexpected…can I take it later?”
How many of us could say this to a prospective or new employer? I’m guessing, NONE. These NFL players need to realize that they are not exempt from following the law.
Players shouldn’t use drugs/break the law just because they were unemployed at the time (or during the off-season, or during the season).
Those of you trying to compare 4 game suspensions for positive drug tests to Suh’s 2 game suspension need to stop. Players don’t get a four game suspension unless they’ve already been caught using drugs multiple times before this. So, I don’t feel sorry for them AT ALL!!! They’ve got no one to blame but themselves.

Have you ever held a job anywhere?? Majority of jobs require pre-employment drug screening, so by your logic if one were to fail said test they could say “well I wasn’t employed by you when I did it, so it shouldn’t count”. Dumbest comment of the day.

that went over your head. The CBA defines the punishment for failed drug tests. considering that there was no CBA in place when they actually smoked then there were no guidelines for punishment.

metaphorically: it would have been like arresting anyone who had ever consumed alcohol pre-prohibition. basically giving punishment for something that wasn’t illegal at the time they did it.

but im sure its all just a conspiracy anyway

Illegal or not, what they did while they weren’t employees of the NFL really isn’t the NFL’s business. You’d have thought they could test for PEDs right away but not test for drugs until a few weeks into people being back at work.

Barring that…as a Jets fan…they could have suspended them before today’s game!
