Mel Tucker’s first game as interim head coach in Jacksonville hasn’t gone very well.
Tucker has an uphill battle to earn the Jaguars’ permanent job, and names are already starting to float out there as possible candidates to be the next Jaguars head coach.
Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Falcons coach Mike Mularkey and former Packers coach Mike Sherman are among the names on Jacksonville’s radar. Schefter also threw out Bengals offensive coordinator Jay Gruden.
Gruden makes some sense because he’s shown he can develop young quarterbacks. Mularkey’s son works in the Jaguars organization so there is a connection there.
Pete Prisco of CBSSports.com has mentioned Gruden and former Titans coach Jeff Fisher as possibilities.
