Andrew Luck says he’s “absolutely” ready for the NFL

Andrew Luck AP

As if there was any doubt, Andrew Luck says he’s ready to leave college after Stanford plays in the Fiesta Bowl.

Luck said on ESPN that he considers himself “absolutely” prepared to leave college and enter the NFL draft. Luck does have one remaining season of NCAA eligibility and could play at Stanford in 2012 if he wanted, but this has been widely regarded as his final college season.

“I think I’m going to hopefully play professional football if a team will have me,” Luck said, via NFL.com.

I think it’s probably safe to say that an NFL team will have him, and that team will probably be the Colts, who at 0-12 have a two-game lead over the Vikings and Rams in the Suck for Luck Sweepstakes, with only four weeks left in the season.

Luck said he hasn’t been planning any type of formal announcement about his plans to enter the NFL draft because he thought it was obvious that this is his last season in college.

“I thought it was pretty formal or understood when I came back for my final year, so I have no clue if I’ll make a formal announcement or not,” Luck said.

That may have been the only announcement he needs.

His coach has said that he didn’t expect Luck back. His father said he didn’t expect Luck back. Luck says this is his last year. Luck is leaving.

He is headed to Indianapolis. They already said they would take him. There are a lot worse organizations he could be headed to rather than Indianiapolis. Being with the Colts beats being with the Browns, Jacksonville, or St. Louis any days.

Every year you all get fired up for this next great Franchise QB but the facts are that over the last 12 years there have only been 6 who have carried their team year after year and won the Super Bowl and one of those is retired and the other missed the entire year.

    Kurt Warner
    Tom Brady
    Peyton Manning
    Drew Brees
    Ben Rothlisburger
    Aaron Rodgers

That means this year it’s down to 4 out of 32 teams. You have a better chance of getting to the Super Bowl with a great defense and Run game.

Did you purposely leave Eli out of this??? He is an elite QB who IS a franchise QB, and who now has the 3rd most QB starts in NFL history, a SB ring, and a SB MVP. Even Eli haters cant deny that now! He shows up on Sunday each and every week for 8 years in a row!

I don’t think Luck should do like Elway or Eli, it’s just classless. The NFL should penalize Indianapolis for more or less throwing an entire season, though, maybe by taking away that #1 pick.

    2) One time, in NYC, shortly after video cameras had been installed on city buses, there was a very minor traffic incident involving a city bus. People who were seen laughing and smiling on video later filed suits against the city for injury. Also, people who were not even on the bus at the time of the accident also tried to file claims. Not saying Suh is innocent here, but he has very deep pockets, and lots of people are aware of this.

I’m sure the teams that miss out on Luck are gonna be just fine with Ryan Tannehill. Future stud. Better than Barkley and RG3.

Titansfan, cut the act it’s obvious your a giants fan. The reason Eli is left off of all of these lists is because he shows flashes of brilliance but is woefully inconsistent. He goes from great one week to crap the next. When he ACTUALLY does it week in and week out he’ll be included.

  36. 3yardsndust says: Dec 6, 2011 12:50 PM

I hope that whatever team he plays for that he plays well. We need more talent in the league – better players at every position to make for better games. Nobody should have to watch guys like Blaine Gabbert or Curtis Painter.

Why are folks hating on the Colts??? We haven’t picked in the top 10 since we drafted Peyton ..were always in the bottom 20′s …we didnt tank the season..our team right now just isn’t good..we have our terrible 2nd n 3rd string qb in..our defense always blew..other teams fans just wanted luck now they’re out of it and has to stick with matt Moore **cough cough dolphins hater fan above ..nobody said the panthers last year tanked for Cam..so quit hating n saying he should refuse to play for colts n ask for a trade…don’t worry there are other good qb’s coming out of this draft too!! But Luck is the top in my beliefs! Don’t be a douche all u other teams fans

Yeah because the Colt’s defense will do a much better job than Jacksonville of giving their QB good field position while they adjust to the speed of the NFL… Just ask Curtis Painter…

I’m confused on why people r saying the Colts should trade peyton. they knew about his injury waaaay before he signed his extension this year, sure his recovery probably took longer than they thought it would take but to cut ties with the likes of manning would be a P.R suicide for an organization that’s already made some huge and glaring m

  43. clutch87j says: Dec 6, 2011 2:10 PM

part 2 of my comment… letting tom Moore and Howard mudd walk, not going for the perfect season just to name a couple of things. but, if the Colts follow their patterns over the past 13years or so, luck would be very “lucky” to come to a team that will structure the entire squad around him.

Hey Kenny, I am a Giants & Titans fan, if you really care, and just stated the facts. Did you READ what the poster said?

“Every year you all get fired up for this next great Franchise QB but the facts are that over the last 12 years there have only been 6 who have carried their team year after year and won the Super Bowl and one of those is retired and the other missed the entire year.”

My point was that Eli HAS carried his Giants for the past 8 years AND he was the one everyone was clamoring for in probably the best QB draft class maybe ever! And what did he do? He became the face of the GMen AND a FRANCHISE QB AND brought a SB home to NY. Nuff said!

Sorry, hater. It happened in Suh’s hometown of Portland, and the authorities aren’t going to pursue the matter. The only issue is whether the league will look into it under the “personal conduct” code….sounds like a money grab, to me.
