Packers quarterbacks coach Tom Clements is throwing his hat in the ring to replace Joe Paterno as the head coach at Penn State.
Clements has sent a resume to Penn State’s six-member search committee, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports.
Clements has been the quarterbacks coach in Green Bay since 2006, Aaron Rodgers’ second season, and Rodgers certainly looks like he’s been well-coached by Clements. So that would have to be considered a positive for him.
Although Clements has no ties to Penn State, he did grow up in Western Pennsylvania. Clements was a college quarterback at Notre Dame and had a long career in the Canadian Football League. His NFL playing career consisted of one game with the Chiefs in 1980. His first coaching job was as an assistant at Notre Dame, and since then he’s been on the staff of the Saints, Chiefs, Steelers and Bills before joining the Packers.
