I live in Madison and have met John Moffitt. I can confirm that he was on Adderall – that was pretty well known to Madison sports fans.

If you’ve ever had a conversation with him, or listened to an interview, you can tell the guy has a unique personality. He’s all over the board and funny as hell.

I can’t be certain that it’s what he was busted for, but it seems plausible. Bonehead move on his part.

And to the guy who was accusing UW athletes of PEDs – really, you doubt Wisconsin’s ability to produce big, fat white guys? That’s our #2 export after dairy. (Says the guy who’s 5’7 155)

Wow, you guys jump the gun. The drugs were perscribed for hyperactivity. He just didn’t reprot it to the nfl and thus got penalized, they ar estrict on that. It wasn’t ollegal drugs or specific performance enhancing drugs.
The penalty is in the non-pay not the missed games.

Word is that Moffitt had been using Adderall, a legally-prescribed amphetamine, to treat ADD since he was a kid, and that’s what got him busted.

Apparently, he assumed that since it was a legal prescription he’d had for a long time, it was OK. He was half right: It’s OK if you tell the league about it, and they approve you for a waiver. If you don’t, it’s a four-game suspension.

Assuming this is true, it’s pretty dumb that either Moffitt or his agent didn’t realize this was something the league should know about. The total amount of lost pay will be in the area of $85,000.

Think about it this way who would have known if he would have landed on IR, these things you cant tell so he might as well serve it then. The bigger pic is the 4 weeks of non pay ouch- that is costly no matter how much you earn.
