Former Colts offensive coordinator Tom Moore will be stepping up his involvement with the Jets for the final weeks of the season.

Moore, who has been consulting with the Jets from his home in South Carolina this season, will spend the rest of the year working with the offense in person. He was in Washington with the team last week when the offense showed more creativity than it had in previous weeks. Moore also attended practice in the week leading up to the win over the Chargers. That win was one of their better offensive performances of the season.

Rex Ryan made the announcement at his Wednesday press conference, saying that Moore would be moving from consultant to “mega-consultant.” Ryan also shot down the notion that the desire for more Moore had anything to do with dissatisfaction about the job offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer has been doing this season.

“The perception is completely false. I have great confidence in Brian. This is a thing that helps.”

The Jets could certainly use all the help they can get on offense as they try to push past other AFC teams and find their way back to the playoffs for the third straight season.
