Their daughter and son had gone to Mendocino 4 days after the SB to toss their Mother’s ashes into the ocean. A rogue wave washed them both off the cliffs. The son survived but not the daughter.

Everybody is complaining about the commentators here, but the source of the problem is the article, which was written with absolutely ZERO tact. You don’t list a bunch of people who died as though you’re writing a Final Destination movie or compiling trivia, and then at the end tack on “Our thoughts are with you…” Disgusting. This is why I turn off the tv at halftime of NBC games.

Natrone is working diligently at getting into coaching full time. He lives in Kannapolis and has a great young family. He was the coach of a pop warner team his kids played on a couple of years ago and won the championship. He began networking recently in an attempt to get a college job coaching backs.

It makes you wonder, doesn’t it?

I mean, teasing fans of rival teams is all well and good, if it doesn’t involve a serious matter, like death.

I’ve never understood the editing here, who and how someone decided what gets through and what doesn’t.

I doubt this will get through, but if nothing else, maybe someone who can actually do something about will read it before discarding it.

I get the whole “athletes are overpaid” thing. But people have to remember where the money is coming from: billionaire owners. It’s not like if we paid athletes less, teachers and veterans would all of the sudden start earning more.

If you have a problem with the salaries of people like veterans, police officers, or teachers, look to the government, not pro football. (And I’m not talking about just this set of politicians, I’m talking about the last 30 years of government policies).

Yes, they’re underpaid, if the veteran actually served during wartime and saw combat, however, that has absolutely nothing to do with the salary of an athlete who has a skill and elite athletic ability which only a few in the world possess. That’s part of what we fight for. The right to live in a capitalist country which allows an individual to make as much as someone is willing to pay them. Supply and demand and freedom of trade.

I was at that SB in January ’95. Chargers opened as 19.5 point dogs to the Steve Young-led Niners. Jerry Rice was in his prime. Shanarat was the OC for the Niners, Pete Carroll was the DC. The Chargers never stood a chance. During the pre-game festivities, they trotted out a pair of big inflatable helmets. The Niner helmet inflated properly and stood proudly, while the Charger helmet wouldn’t hold air and crumpled to the ground. Uh oh, that’s an omen for Bolts fans, I remember thinking. RIP to all those who are no longer with us. Crazy how many of these guys have died young.
