DeMarcus Ware: Justin Tuck just wants to be a Cowboy

Dallas Cowboys v Arizona Cardinals Getty Images

Justin Tuck talks a lot about how he “hates” the Cowboys and that their stadium is a dump. Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware has a theory about this.

“He says that because maybe he wants to play here,” Ware said via the New York Daily News. “Everybody wants to play for the Cowboys. If I wasn’t playing for the Cowboys I would call it that, too, because I want to play for them.”

The Cowboys gave the media plenty to chew on Wednesday. Cornerback Mike Jenkins also called Giants running back Brandon Jacobs a “bully.”

The Giants have generally pushed the Cowboys around during the Tom Coughlin era. Since the 2007 playoffs, the Giants are 5-2 against Dallas.

New York needs to make it 6-2 on Sunday night or the NFC East race will essentially be over.

yeah…who DOESN’T want to play for a team with a self destructive QB who blows up when the chips are down? good call…

You know, a lot of players want to be Cowboys. Where else can you get overpaid, underachieve, and year after year have coaches who dont force you to work hard or be accountable for your play. The only coach to do that, Parcells, was pretty much run out of town. So ya, if i was a pro football player, id wanna play in Dallas too…

  4. paleandpasty says: Dec 8, 2011 10:08 AM

Justin Tuck wanted to be a cowboy then he decided he wanted to be a fireman and then he turned 5.

  5. dalfanforever says: Dec 8, 2011 10:09 AM

There could be some truth to it. The way he’s playing this year (or not playing), he might get his “wish.” I’d welcome him with open arms.

Because it’s every football player’s dream to be on a team that has won one playoff game in 15 years. I’m going out on a limb and guessing that Tuck prefers his Super Bowl ring over playing for Dallas.

Great theory, demarcus. I’m sure being a cowboy is far better than having a superbowl ring.

Is that why Mike Jenkins runs away from tackles? Because he’s scared of bullies?

Uhh, I could think of a few players who dont wanna play for the Cowgirls, like every member of the Packers, Saints, Patriats, Steelers, Ravens, and so on, basically anyone with have the brain to realize that when a owner is president, GM and Head Coach, coupled with a lame duck puppet acting as head coach, thats not a great situation./

What arrogance! The only players that want to play for a team that doesn’t win (i.e., the Cowboys) are players in it for the hype or the money which leads to a team full of these jokers which just perpetuates the non-winning and undeserved hype.

Football players want to play for winners. Not decals.

Hmmmm something don’t make sense. 5+2=7 there has been 6 games played against the two teams since then so if there has been six games since the 07 playoffs where dis that 7th game come from it would be more like 4-2 just a little math leasin for you idiots at pft

  31. paulsmith107 says: Dec 8, 2011 11:37 AM

    @ dgbk
I understand that the playoff game is included but when you say since the 07 playoffs you wouldn’t really be counting that game now would you. Since the end of the 07 season the giants are 5-2 including the 07 playoffs. You know I’m not a writter or nothing but I’ve done enough pappers in my life to know that’s how it goes.

  32. romoscollarbone says: Dec 8, 2011 11:37 AM

As a Cowboy fan that lives in NJ, and has been to The new Cowboys Stadium, Texas Stadium, The Meadowlands and Metlife Stadium. What the hell is Tuck talking about? You can hate the Cowboys, but the new stadium is one of the most impressive things I’ve ever witnessed in my life, it has a retractable roof, open air retractable end zones and it cost less than that grey bird’s nest the Giants and Jets call home. I love a little trash talk, but calling the stadium a dump is asinine. Especially compared to Metlife which is the most uninspiring looking football stadium I’ve been in.

  33. paulsmith107 says: Dec 8, 2011 11:41 AM

And honestely how many of those games meant anything they beat us early in 08 and we beat them late in the season to keep our playoff hopes alive they beat us twice in 09 and they were 8-8 so none of those games meant anything to us and last year we were what 1-4 and leading the game on the way to another score when romo was hurt that game meant nothing but the one we won in the later part of the season was big cause it was a game they needed to make the playoffs and didn’t get it so who cares about what their record is against us

uh, why should we stop? granted, this years team appears to be in a lot of trouble….but the giants just won a SB four years ago….many of the current giants were on that team. its not like we’re bragging about titles from close to 20 years ago.

demarcus ware, who i actually think is a class act, shouldnt be making stupid comments about the giants. now if he had said that players on the JETS wished they were playing for the boys, he’d be 100% correct.

    —————————————————————–

Will you people get off of the entirely overrated Bill Parcells, please? He was barely a .500 coach in Dallas. The Cowboys still haven’t gotten over his terrible drafting. He took 7 offensive lineman and not a single one of them panned out. Most aren’t even in the league anymore, I think one or two may be backups somewhere. Barbie Carpenter, Julius Jones over Steven Jackson, I could go on. No team that has been affiliated with Bill Parcells in any capacity has won a playoff game since the 90’s. You are what your record says you are.

  43. blu4l1fe says: Dec 8, 2011 12:23 PM

I guess this is his comeback for whatever Tuck says regarding how much he hates the Cowboys. Good one!!! (NOT!!!). At this point and considering how the Cowboys have performed, or underperformed for that matter, the past few years, why would anyone want to play for them, unless you’re someone who’s undrafted and want to show the league what you’re capable of (Jones, Barber). Other than that, I don’t think so.

Demarcus is the best defensive player in the league so he can say whatever he wants. And the only other defensive player that can say anything back to him is Willis. No questions asked. Tuck is a bum who should keep his mouth shut. He will be awfully quiet once the Cowboys put an end to their season Sunday night. Then he can head back to his “dump”.

Ahhh, howley. The poor man’s Vox Veritas. See, howley, for that to be amusing and/or plausible, Dallas would have to be a threat to win the Super Bowl. and the simple fact of the matter is they aren’t. Not even close. Even if Dallas does win Sunday, and I freely admit that this is very flawed and injured NY team so a Dallas win is quite possible, Dallas ain’t getting near the Super Bowl. They have neither the players nor the coaching staff to beat New Orleans, San Fran and/or Green Bay. So, as is the norm for Dallas these past 15 years, IF they make it to playoffs, it’s a pretty safe bet they lose the first game badly. Maybe Brookings can repeat his classic performance after your last playoff game and cry to the media about how the other team ran up the score.

True but look at the other facts from those Parcell teams. 1-15 Jets to 9-7 the next year. 4-12 Cowboys to 10-6 the next year. 1-15 Dolphins to 9-7 the next year. Playoff success is key, but if u ignore the regular season and ur only using that logic then the Redskins have been a better team since 2000 than the Cowboys, because the Redskins have 2 playoff wins, and the Cowboys have 1.

    ———————————————————-

Ummm Tuck already has a Super Bowl ring, doesn’t he? If he were to one day sign with the Cowboys he would have a Super Bowl ring AND realize his life-long dream of being a part of the NFL’s flagship franchise.

“They have neither the players nor the coaching staff to beat New Orleans, San Fran and/or Green Bay.”

They already beat the 49ers. In SF. And went into New Orleans and beat a better Saints team with a lesser Cowboys team the year the Saints won the Super Bowl. Just sayin’. I mean the Giants already lost to all those teams. But it’s not about this year, is it? Obviously the Giants aren’t going to cut Tuck because he is their best pass rusher by far (as pathetic as that may be) and the trade deadline has passed.

Also just sayin’ that the Cowboys were the last NFCE team to win a playoff game so maybe you shouldn’t talk so much ish.

  63. howley1 says: Dec 8, 2011 5:31 PM

    ————————————————————

There’s no denying that but look how he accomplished it. By bringing in a bunch of his aging but still fairly good friends (Drew Bledsoe, Keyshawn Johnson, Richie Anderson, Terry Glenn, Jason Ferguson et al) at the expense of the development of younger players. OK for the short-term, terrible for the long-term. The fact that there aren’t even any playoff wins mixed in to show for the tradeoff = abject failure. Wade Phillips took Parcells’ guys and won 4 more games than Parcells could with them. And he won a playoff game, too.

As far as the Redskins are concerned, I would expect for them to be better than the Cowboys since 2000, given the fact that Dan Snyder has shelled out upwards of a billion dollars worth of free agent contracts since then.

As if anybody cares about a championship that was won while playing against the Pottsville Maroons and the Duluth Eskimos in the first place…

Funny you mention winning percentage since NFL championships were decided by winning percentage at one time. The Giants have 7 NFL titles to go with their 7 division championships since the merger!

    Giants = 1 championship every 12 years
    Cowboys = 1 championship every 10 years
