Interesting that in 91 comments nobody has pointed out the very obvious fact that the NFL has scheduled Thursday games for two reasons: 1) Money. Of course; it's the NFL 2) Parity. The NFL has been trying in a variety of ways for several years to accomplish via Screwiness-of-Schedule what Strength-of-Schedule could not. Like the hidden taxes on your cell phone, nobody squawks about it like they do the income tax, because it flies under the radar.

Thursday games are Hinky (that's with a capital 'H'.) SF and Bal'more both looked completely off during their Thursday outing; the game was just plain awful. Neither Pittsburgh nor Cleveland executed well, at least on offense.

Expect Ratbird (aka Baltimore NeoBrowns) fans to come back here on Christmas day when Pittsburgh has to play St. Louis on a five day week with long travel between outings. That game will also be "surprisingly close." And it will show nothing about how good or how bad the Steelers are.

That four down sequence at the goalline is one reason why Arians is hated so much. THere were a couple of downs where the right personnel were chosen. They had 3 TEs and an extra Ol guy. But they wasted Wallace on one of the downs. The D wasnt fooled and just left him on single coverage. THey should have brought Redman in on 2 downs and left Mendy or Mewelde in to keep the D honest. Hell, they could have tried with Mewelde taking a direct snap and make the D respect the possibility of a wildcat run to the outside or with the option to pitch it to Redman or Mendenhall. The third down play was clearly a TD if Redman was running that ball. He is better suited to pushing back the guy who slammed into Mendenhall at the 1.

I do support going for it on 4th down in a regular season game. You need to find out now rather than later what it takes to score a TD in a pressure situation.

As stupid as Steelers were in the type of runs they called at that goalline sequence, Browns were even dumber. They should have gone for it on 4th down to start the game. They also should not have punted on the next drive from the 40. And the worst was putting a dazed McCoy back in. I think Seneca has a much better chance of scoring a TD than a dazed McCoy or undazed McCoy. Quite frankly, the Steelers D didn't impress me that much. Browns were just that incompetent.

Bottom line is the Browns cannot score a TD. At all. That is the problem that needs fixed. Last week Baltimore gave the Browns many chances to take the game, just like the Steelers did last night, but the Browns simply cannot take advantage.

I'd say maybe look for a new head coach and/or qb, but I'm from Pittsburgh and hate the Browns so I really don't care what ya do!

Looked to me the Steelers with Ben heathy was moving the ball. The two turnovers were in the red zone. The stop on four downs was because the Browns knew Ben could not move so they would run the ball. Took three good hits to stop the running back the last run was dead into the defense. I don't think any playfoff teams want to play them.

I gladly give credit to the Cleveland D for keeping the game close. The goal line stand, two fumble recoveries in the red zone, pulling in Ben's mindnumbing pick of the week...without that the game is out of reach in a hurry. They made big plays early and often.

So you saw the replay of his ankle being bent 90 degrees in the opposite direction normal ankle sprains happen, right?

Your ankle has a strong ligament that stops your ankle from rolling that way (eversion), when it does roll out like that it actually is painful, but I'm sure big ben just wants attention /sarcasm

He's a true talent, but face the music.... He's never even going to sniff a ring playing in DetRiot. Found a way to lose the game? Give me a break. The Steelers defense locked down the Browns all night, you make it sound like they were in control all game.

The defense shut them down and the Browns won the field position battle through most of the game pinning the Steelers deep. The hobbled Ben struggled to flip the field.

The steelers were obviously the better team.

------------

All Steeler fans seem to be delusional beyond repentance. It's appalling.

The Browns couldn't get out of their own way all night. Epic fail on the first drive and a total brain freeze by Shurmur to 1) put a concussed QB back in the game and 2) take out a guy who had made a couple of huge plays to get you in position to score and win the game to begin with.

The Steelers are one and done.

Anybody else notice how abosutely uninterested Byron Leftwich looked? Chomping his gum and listening to his iPod. Dude couldn't even pretend to be interested in the outcome of the game.

Charlie Batch may be a career backup, but it's been a very long career. I'd say this chump Leftwich is just about done. He must have made a deal with the devil to last this long.

Overstatement: "Most compelling prime time game in weeks"

4 fumbles, 3 interceptions, multiple red zone misses? This game was nearly unwatchable! Kudos to the Steelers for "finding a way"' but given the Browns performance, that's like giving your buddy a high five for sinking a layup. Cleveland deserves better!

It 's nice to see that Ben's ankles are as flexible as his definition of rape! They'll go as far as Ben's ankle will take them in the playoffs.

About the Harrison Hit on McCoy. Yes he was out of the pocket as I saw it from my Living Room. However when the hit occured, He no longer had the ball, was looking in the direction of the throw, and Harrison lowered his head then led it into McCoy's facemask. The call to me should have been hitting a defenseless player. These guys play at such a fast paced, high level, these things happen. But, this should not have happened. And I am SURE it will be a hefty fine. Just because of past history if nothing else. Great game though!!!!! Hats off to Cleveland for showing up... They made it worth watching... Pittsburgh could have very well blown the lid off early and cruised....

Is there a tougher QB currently playing than Ben?
Last years Broken nose, blood everywhere and he still whups Baltimore. Now he goes out after a nasty looking injury, goes to get an xray, shows he has no structural damage, and gets his butt back out there. Just because the xray showed there was no damage did not mean he wasnt playing hurt. He limped to another win in spite of.

Dont tell me about Romo and his little flack jacket

Kudos to the Browns for ignoring all of NFLN's nonstop pregame slobbering on Pittsburgh and reminding them that there's still a game to play.

Nice job forcing the fumbles against two of our most sure handed players. As for Ben's drama-ness, I wouldn't have been surprised if he came out and ran for 100yds, although that roll-up was ugly. It'll be good to have an extended week to heal up.

Oh and uh, GO COLTS! (*cry*)

It's a shame cause I'm beginning to realize how good of quarterback he is. If the sideshow could just go away, itd be easier to tolerate him.

I'm not sure what the rule should be, but there should definitely be a clarification made about what turns a QB into a runner. If McCoy hadn't passed the ball, or if he had been past the LOS would that have been a penalty or a finable offense?

Protecting players starts with clear and consistent rules. Both have been largely lacking. I think a huge part of that is having one person mainly responsible for judging what the rules should be and how to enforce and punish them.
