Chargers release lineman Ndukwe after practice fight

Chargers offensive lineman Ikechuku Ndukwe wasn’t happy with how his teammate Vaughn Martin was bull rushing him in practice,  and asked him to stop.

Martin didn’t stop, so Ndukwe tried to beat the crap out of Martin.

Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports that the Chargers cut Ndukwe Friday after he dropped Martin with a punch and then kicked him during Thursday’s practice.

The Chargers have dealt with a number of injuries on the offensive line, but Ndukwe wasn’t a key member of the team. He’s appeared in two games as a reserve.

(That’s why we’re including a picture of Martin. There isn’t a good one of Ndukwe.)

Heat of battle but kicking someone while they are down is weak. Peace Ike.

Grew tired of pronouncing his name, no doubt.

You gotta pace yourself, it’s a long season, especially if your a not oft used reserve…..

“The asthma field is over there.” Way to make a statement. Cut an offensive lineman who doesn’t get on the field even when they don’t have any. Annoying.

Does he realize that this is the highest paying job he’ll ever have? Or does he just not like money?

  12. bengarciareyes says: Dec 9, 2011 3:36 PM

He wasn’t an offensive line man. He was a defensive tackle. now he’s un-employed.

  13. bengarciareyes says: Dec 9, 2011 3:38 PM

no wait, he was an o-line guy, thought they cut another long named dude. they’ll all be at home in January anyways.

What are you gonna do in a game? “Oh, please stop bull rushing me. I don’t like it.”???

  17. granadafan says: Dec 9, 2011 3:58 PM

Kicking a man while he’s down? See what role models like Suh have done? Cowardly.

  18. deepseabreeze says: Dec 9, 2011 4:04 PM

when did chinedum change his name and gain 100 pounds and become a lineman?

  19. dacapt704 says: Dec 9, 2011 4:12 PM

Whats cowardly? he was down AFTER getting dropped by a punch..its called a fight. Im guessing from those who posted before me that most of you were never in one! LOL

The kick was just an incentive NOT to get up..oh well, keep your guard up and move your head side to side, learned this boxing at PAL

Does anybody know who Ikechuku Ndukwe is?
He must have some balls laying the smack down on his own teammate. Big balls, little brain. Either way, the dude is unemployed.

As a Charger fan, we don’t want any stupid people on our team anyway. We’ve got enough problems this year without putting up with that crap. Good riddance.

  22. joetoronto says: Dec 9, 2011 5:31 PM

Who cares if it was a fight, a Charger actually won something!

  23. DubZ480 says: Dec 9, 2011 5:44 PM

Ever since Tim Tebow beat this team, they have been in-fighting.
