Safety Gerald Sensabaugh has spent the last three years with the Cowboys on a series of one-year contracts, a streak that will come to an end after he agreed to a five-year extension with the team on Friday.

Calvin Watkins of ESPNDallas.com reports that the deal is worth $22.5 millon. Watkins’ report does not have any information about how much of the money is guaranteed, but it will wind up being a big raise for Sensabaugh. He’s playing for $2.5 million this year after making less than $2 million in his first two years with the Cowboys after joining the team as a free agent from the Jaguars.

Sensabaugh has 60 tackles and two interceptions for the Cowboys this season. He’s been a very steady presence in Dallas’ secondary throughout his run with the team and was looking for a long-term deal before re-signing with the Cowboys this offseason. He’s finally gotten the deal, which looks like a reasonable recognition of those contributions.
