High ankle sprains are all the rage in Pittsburgh right now.
We already told you that Ben Roethlisberger’s MRI revealed that the Steelers quarterback sustained a high ankle sprain during Thursday night’s 14-3 win over the Browns. Now comes confirmation that his center Maurkice Pouncey is dealing with the same injury.
Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Pouncey was diagnosed after his own MRI on Friday. Per Dulac, the injury isn’t the most severe Grade 3 sprain but a source told him that the results of the MRI were “not good.” Roethlisberger’s injury also falls short of the Grade 3 designation.
There’s a lot of time before the Steelers face the 49ers, but the severity of the injury means there’s a chance Pouncey won’t recover in time to take the field a week from Monday.
