We probably won’t know the Vikings’ starting quarterback until Sunday.

Christian Ponder (hip) returned to practice on Friday, which coach Leslie Frazier said was necessary for Ponder to have a shot at playing against the Lions.

Tom Pelissero of espn1500.com notes that Joe Webb took most of the first team reps during the portion of practice the media saw. Webb took all the snaps the last two days and looks to be the favorite to start.

Adrian Peterson was at practice again despite his high ankle sprain. It’s unclear how much Peterson is doing at practice, but signs are pointing up for his return to the lineup.

UPDATE: Both players are questionable. Frazier knows which direction Peterson is going. Frazier may want to see Ponder work out again Sunday morning. Ponder mostly did individual work Friday.
