Lion claim early lead over Vikings

The Vikings have a banged-up secondary.  The Lions have a banged-up backfield.

And so the Lions are throwing.  And they’re winning.

It’s 21-7 through one quarter.

Matthew Stafford has completed nine of 11 passes for 131 yards and two touchdowns.  Tight end Brandon Pettigrew and receiver Titus Young, two of the players who picked up boneheaded penalties last week, have touchdown receptions.

Meanwhile, Detroit’s running game has generated one yard on one carry.

The Lions started the scoring by recovering a Christian Ponder fumble in the end zone.  Ponder also has thrown an interception.

The game would be a shutout but for a Ponder touchdown pass to tight end Visanthe Shiancoe.

The 7-5 Lions are trying to enhance their shot at the postseason.  The 2-10 Vikings hope to avoid the worst record in team history.

    28-7. Christian Ponder looks terrible.

Percy Harvin and a select few others seem to be the only ones competing. I don’t expect to see much of this secondary next year, or offensive line.

It is not all his fault, he did make some terrible throws, but the sack for a td was on Loadholt and Aromashadu letting up twice which could have made the game 28-21.

Banged up secondary or secondary that bangs up their women? Thanks a bunch Chris Cook.

Can’t believe the Vikes take a knee at the end of the half. What do you have to lose by tossing it down field. An interception? Who cares! You are already down by 3 scores. Very poor coaching.

On the first Vikings touchdown drive Aaron Berry dropped an interception on a terrible throw by Ponder. He’s made some decent throws, yet the majority of them have been bad.

Yea, Christian Ponder just threw his third interception.

Schwartz shows his truly colors. His player cheap shots the QB and he argues with the ref. He doesn’t go after the player. Truth is he wants them to play cheap and dirty.

Christine gets pulled. What a girl! For a player that’s supposedly so smart, he sure plays dumb!

But AGAIN another stupid personal foul. Schwartz has to go.

Remind me — how did the Vikes actually *win* two games?

    Adrian Petersen

How in the world Frazier has a job after this week will be beyond me.

He looks like a deer in the headlights and Musgrave is putting plays into the game on bar napkins….one timeout after another before halftime. Wow.

These 2 look eerily similar to the downward spin in Mike Sherman’s staff during their last days in Green Bay….ouch.
