Cowboys coach Jason Garrett has refused to publicly acknowledge that which everyone who follows the NFL believes: Garrett bungled the closing moments of regulation against the Cardinals last Sunday.

But Garrett privately has admitted the error his players.

In an interview with NBC’s Michele Tafoya to be aired on Football Night In America, Cowboys linebacker DeMarcus Ware explained that Garrett owned up to the situation.

“When you think about a coach that comes in that meeting and says, ‘Hey, I made a mistake on that play,’ well, guess what, we need to forget about that,” Ware said.

So if Garrett admitted the mistake to the team, why no admit the mistake to the rest of the world? That same added respect the players acquired for Garrett would have also applied to most fans.

Instead, plenty of fans have spent all week wondering whether Garrett is the right guy for the job.
