Suspend him. Why is it that everyone in the league knows how to tackle except this guy? And then he whines about a fine, and threatens retire? Good riddance, I say.

If the Patriots can throw random people into defensive positions, and they can learn how to tackle after playing one game, why is it that Harrison hasn’t figured it out?

If McCoy had ducked, Harrison might have had a leg to stand on.. but McCoy was just about as straight up as anyone could possibly be while running, and Harrison still claims he ducked. Ridiculous.

The sad thing is, it will most likely be Harrison who one day ends up with persistent headaches/depression/in a wheelchair.. or worse.

Everyone of you Pittsburgh haters, spouting off about non football issues, would love to have Harrison on your team.
When McCoy took off running he became a running back, regardless if he flipped the ball away.
All of this ranting is just plain jealousy of our teams tradition and record of winning.
==================================
So people who have an opinion are just "haters"? I would say it is because of the way your fans constantly stand behind a player who doesn't abide by the rules.

The real issue here is that he refuses to abide by the new rules. While all other players have changed their way of tackling to be within the rules, Harrison continues to show that he will not abide by the new rules by leading with his helmet every time. Fines have not done any good in making him realize his wrongs so the league needs to resort to a harsher penalty - ie: 3 game suspension.

Haters be scaaaarreeeeddd! If he was on their team, they would love James’ play! But since James knows that the Steelers are the hardest hitting, toughest playin group of men in the NFL, he chooses to play here. Simple….fact…..done. Deep inside, all of you love it. You watch it, you write about it…..you simply love it. All of you should be sending James a Xmas card expressing your thanks. Thanks to James for giving you the privelage of watching real men play…real men in the Steel City.
==================================
Nice post idiot......nobody is scared of your team...frankly the way he plays is an embarassment to football...he leads with his helmet and his arms don't even come close to McCoy before he hits him in the face......You and the rest of your fans that think otherwise are nothing but a bunch of tools....

Dang! It's a sea of soapboxes in here.

Anyways, it was obviously a bad hit. I "assume" it wouldn't have been flagged if it wasn't (congrats on getting the call right finally). But the jokesters here are inventing malicious intent based on multiple fines from the previous year, and they're doing that for the sole purpose of trolling. If any of them can name all of the hits for which JH was fined last year, I'll admit you might either be somewhat of an authority on the matter, or at the very least a stalker. Either way, you can at least voice an opinion on it. The rest of you are trolls who are simply piling on. Y'all should really just brush up on your excuses.

Fine-worthy, but not Suhspension worthy imho.

Hey johnny, I see you don't let facts get in the way of your opinion. After the investigation, no charges pressed, so NO, the justice system took no action since there was NONE TO TAKE related to DTF (do you know what that means?). And what does that have to do with this story about so-called illegal hits on players?? Please stay in touch with reality when you want to make an analogy, thanks.

I'd expect that a smart defender (and a smart team) would look at the rules as written regarding when a QB is a runner and when a QB is a passer and say that you shouldn't lead with your helmet until after the QB is absolutely no longer a passer - meaning after the QB passes the line of scrimmage.

Besides, I always thought that defenders were taught to keep their head up when tackling, and not put their head down.

jadamich December 13, 2011, 7:49 AM EST

If you can’t see what you’re hitting, it’s not okay. He lowered his head and lead with the crown of the helmet. That hit has been illegal at all levels of tackle football and it makes no difference what position the hit occurred against.
________________________________________________________________
U need a rule book because this couldn't be more wrong. Obviously u didn't even watch the game or would have seen Gocong LAUNCH head first @ mendenhall and hit him square in the face no flag no fine because he was a runner.... So yes u are allowed to lead with ur head as long as u don't launch and the player isn't defenseless I.e. reciever making a catch/QB in the pocket THROWING.... GOT IT NOW?

You know your city's team is good when ppl from all over the country are in a post about your team leaving comments about how they perform off the field so to speak. We are talking about football ON the field and @ 10-3 we are better than the majority of teams. Yea so Ben may be, correction IS an ahole off the field (though he was never charged with rape like a lot of ppl think) and James says dumb stuff ALL the time but really, I wouldn't rather have anyone else in the black n gold. Go Steelers!

If you can't see what you're hitting, it's not okay. He lowered his head and lead with the crown of the helmet. That hit has been illegal at all levels of tackle football and it makes no difference what position the hit occurred against. If Harrison cannot comprehend that leading with the helmet has serious repercussions on the player being tackled as well as himself then the league needs to step in because it is painfully obvious his team is unwilling to discipline him. The sad part of this issue is that the NFL is only now starting to throw the flag when this situation occurs. C'est la vie.

To all you Steelers fans who are whining about how tough you are, or how violent this game is, I suggest you stop and think for a few minutes. Players like Harrison and Suh aren't doing anyone, including the team and the fans, any favors by constantly allowing their testosterone factories to go into overdrive any time they see a player in the other uniform. They have both been warned repeatedly about their play, and they both repeatedly go out and Hulk up at the wrong time. So what's the answer? Easy, you treat them like the children they are.
Anyone with a child knows that arbitrarily punishing behavior without a motivating variable will not deter the behavior. You need to find the economic price of the motivation. With some kids you can yell till you're blue in the face, take away the allowance, or send them to their room, but what lesson are you teaching? Nothing... You need to find the motivating factor. It's evident that money is not an economic motivator for these meatheads because they make so much of it. So what is it that will really hammer home the point? If winning is what they really want, then eliminate their playing time. Then, if the team loses because of their suspension, they have to deal with the fall-out from their teammates. Their pride will be hurt and their ego bruised. Their actions will be noticed by the fanbase and the team as unnecessary and punishable, therefore the behavior should be altered. So instead of writing a check and pretending it never happened, an alternative method needs to be explored, because it's statistically proven that this guy simply will not get the hint.

On a side note, Browns fans: Quit whining about the hit. Yes it was excessive and borderline blatant but it wasn't the reason you lost. Any Browns fan should be down right pi$$3d off at the organization for allowing this charade of a team to continue operating the way it does. The management of the team is absent, the coach is so in over his head he can't see daylight, and the ownership couldn't care less because it wasn't his toy to begin with. If you really want to see change in this team, find the economic price of their attention, and this one is simple to identify. STOP PAYING TO SEE THEIR CR@PPY PRODUCT! Demand that your voice be heard by saving your money. Calling talk shows means nothing if you go back a week later. The Factory of Sadness is real and the joke is on the fans. They don't care about you as long as that stadium is full 10 times a year.
