It sounds like Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings may not play again in the regular season, but coach Mike McCarthy was upbeat about Jennings’ health on Monday.
Mike McCarthy said that Jennings will be out a “couple weeks.” Florio said Sunday we heard that Jennings had a torn MCL, and what McCarthy said is consistent with that. The MCL is a rope-like ligament that heals with rest with a significant tear.
“The last time I added that up, that’s 2-3 weeks,” McCarthy said.
Of course there are only three weeks left in the regular season. But McCarthy said it sounds “safe to say” that Jennings will be back for the playoffs.
Which is probably why McCarthy was so upbeat.

And the state of Wisconsin lets out a collective sigh of relief
Whew.
It’s the Packers. Next man up. Worked out well last year.
Rub some dirt on it and next man up!
Good news indeed. With #85 back for the stretch run, we should be in great shape for a title defense
What the hell are we gonna do now? I guess Aaron will have too many weaponds again. And I thought we were gonna have to run the ball.
Merely a flesh wound …..
I guess he’s assuming he’ll make it to Super Bowl. Hmmmmm we shall see.
Whew! Dodged a bullet… Indeed great news!
Good to hear…..and not just because he’s their best threat deep, but also because he’s one of the classiest guys in the NFL.
Go for 19, Coach! Rest nobody.
make sure everyone is healthy, so when steelers drum you in super bowl this year I dont wanna hear well we had players hurt.. Like steelers didnt have 5 starters out last year & every year teams deal with injuries. The steelers are only team that can beat the packers. Most rounded. We play great defense, offense & have good special teams. Here we go steelers!
This is James Jones’ opportunity to shine. He claimed all last year til now that he’s a #1, well then let’s see it.
This is good news. The remaining games, while 2/3 are against division opponents, probably won’t affect home field advantage for the Pack. No reason to rush him back.
SO… he wont play in 2 weeks?!
can I drop him and not have him against me in 2 weeks! sigh!
blah
Well, Packer nation can breathe a sigh of relief……….
Honestly, they’re so deep I still think they would’ve went 3-0 to finish the season without him, but good news none the less.
Best possible news. 16-0 would be neat, but we’re focused on a Super Bowl championship here.
Get well soon, Greg.
With a torn MCL in his leg. I find that surprising. Dont be surprised if he is eventually shut down for the year.
It’s also safe to say da Packers will be 16-0 when he returns.
McCarthy said it sounds “safe to say” that Jennings will be back for the playoffs.
But my playoffs start this week!
CHAMPIONSHIP!!!
Just in time to be baptized by Isa Abdul-Quddus.
AMEN
WHO DAT
Great news! I want the Packers to be 100% healthy when Eli and the Giants beat the Packers at Lambeau in the playoffs. I don’t want any excuses from the cheese heads.
And all of packer nation breathes a sigh of relief.
It’s also “safe to say” that I’ll be sitting at the 40 yard line for the NFC Championship Game at Lambeau Field. Can’t wait!
No guarentees with that timeline Mike
I love to watch Jennings play. With all the diva receivers in the league, he gets it done and doesn’t bring a bunch of ego garbage into the process. Dude’s a classy beast.
Losing Jennings definitely hurts the Packers, but they still have Jordy Nelson, Donald Driver, and James Jones to pick up the slack, as well as Jermichael Finley and Randall Cobb. The biggest remaining test for Green Bay’s offense should be the Bears’ defense, as Aaron Rodgers isn’t as good of a running back as Tim Tebow.
We need Tebow to bless the knee.
Looks like 19-0 to me. Write it down. Go Pack Go!!!
“It’s a great day to be great, baby!”
-Greg Jennings
Rodgers will look every bit as beastly with Greg Jennings in or out of the lineup…dude is unstoppable
That Cobb pick in the draft is looking better and better. He’s going to get on the field more and from what we’ve seen of him so far – he’s a player for sure.
Will be interesting.
Pretty sure that a sprained knee was the same diagnosis for Mike Neal back in training camp. His 2-4 weeks turned out to be closer to 12-14. I hope Jennings makes it back for the playoffs, but the Packers better prepare for life without him just in case. And if that plan includes Finley, I sure hope he gets his head out of his rear and starts catching the ball.
As a Patriot Fan I hope that the Packers go 19-0 because I just want someone to shut up MErcury Morris. As for #85 he will be back in the playoffs kicking @$$ and taking names. I think the way that organization has put that team together, all I can say is Congrats and stay classy. because you guys are the NFL’s darlings now until you win to much then the haters come out
All you tough guys out there are hilarious. “Make sure he’s healthy when we throttle you so the Packers can’t make any excuses!” When have the Packers made excuses? Certainly not in the last two years. Glad to hear it doesn’t look serious.
“Pretty sure that a sprained knee was the same diagnosis for Mike Neal back in training camp.”
Neal’s injury was always considered pretty serious. And Neal ways 300 pounds. That’s a whole lot more force working against the healing process than Jennings at less than 200 pounds soaking wet.

Win your division first…..oh wait, the Ravens own your A$$ and their is no way your gonna beat NE twice in a season.
And for the record idiot, the Packers marched up and down the field on your “well rounded D” and took the ball away from your “well rounded O” 3 times with 11 players on IR. I think GB will manage again.

Steelers fans need to worry about getting past bmore and NE. Then worry about facing us in Indianapolis. Green Bay plays superb offense, solid defense.
Losing any one player unless his name is Rodgers will not derail the Packers, just like a good machine they have great spare parts to replace the broken ones,TT knew what he was doing when he drafted all those recievers over the years.
No one from the Packers has said anything using the word “tear”. All we are hearing in Wisconsin is a sprain.

Seeing as how the Packers first play-off game is 5 weeks away he may or may not be assuming he’ll make it to the SB, but one thing is certain, McCarthy can count. You Can’t!
He obviously doesn’t know that my playoffs start this coming weekend!!
Hopefully for the playoffs, the Pack will get back Jennings….and Sitton…..and Clifton…. and Hawk….and Bishop
THEN we can start the playoffs.
@green1bay…. If you call 31st ranked defense in the nfl solid. Go right ahead. When rodgers has a mediocre game & you actually play an offense that can score. That is when your win streak will end….Enter the steelers. Were not scared of patriots. They have no defense. Kind of like the packers. Good offense & no defense!
I’m not worried one little bit. James Jones is totally capable of pulling the wagon.
Please, steelersownyou, the Patriots defense can’t stop anybody from getting in the endzone. The Packers do that. The other thing the Pack does is intercept the ball. Points off turnovers doom any team. Ask the Raiders.
@steelersownyou…. Is your idea of a good offense the same one that played the Browns last Thursday? Ya.. real good!!! Also, stop with the “we’re not scared” talk, your not a Steeler your a fan. Your not on that aging team that struggles against good offenses!!!
The steelers just BARELY beat the browns at home. The packers will wipe the floor with your aging defense, just like they did in the super bowl. Sorry but we aren’t the cardinals or seahawks. No easy super bowls for you as long as the packers are playing you.
“We need Tebow to bless the knee.”
Are you really bringing up Tebow in a story that isn’t even remotely close about him? Sorry but us Packer fans only care about one QB and that is Aaron Rodgers.
@emoney826…. No super bowl is easy, no matter who you play. Sounds like you haven’t been to many super bowls. About 2 if i’m correct. I know you packers fans like to count championships with 8 teams in the league. But trust me nobody else but you cares. And are aging defense is ranked 2nd in the league! They been saying were old for about 5 years now! Every year were 1 or 2. You beat us by 6 points in sb. You got a gift pick 6. And 3 turnovers. Wait til we play you man to man like we did to brady & slap rodgers around! Oh I can taste it!
Jennings is an amazing talent and an even more amazing high character person. He’s going to bust it to get back, and even if he doesn’t make it back in time to take the stage when we’re receiving our inevitable Lombardi Trophy after the completion of the season, he will be working routes with our other receivers and partaking in the film room helping Rodgers discover other teams tendencies just like he did during this past Super Bowl.
Luckily for the Packers, Rodgers is Tom Brady pre-ACL injury and won’t hesitate to throw to every receiver on his roster… unlike Tom Brady post-ACL.
The Packers have 2 excellent wide receivers on their practice squad that could start on most of the other teams in the league. Just sayin’.
@steelersownyou
Our 31st ranked defense came into Sunday with no loses, and leading the league in picks…by 6. Add the other four we took Sunday and do the math. Just like the pick 6 we took on the scrubs we beat in the superbowl last year. Pittsburgh doesnt want any parts of Green Bay ever again.
As a Bears fan, I think Jennings is a beast. I wish him the best. But for the majority of Cheeseheads who crucified Cutler’s toughness for the same injury; shame on you.

A little advice son, Stop driking the water out there in NY. Its effecting your judgement. Cheese Heads don’t make excuses. All we do is rub it in when the next opponent’s fans stomp their feet real hard and walk away humbled after we keep adding to our win collumn.
Look I get that you support your team, and that’s cool… but we’ve delt with this for a while now.

You see a theme here? I’ll give you a hint.. its the team from Green Bay. They’re a freight train…. and you are not going to stop them. Just get out of the way so you don’t get hurt.
when green bay plays steelers in super bowl this year you will be favored by 3 and lose by 7…34-27 steelers Final. Big ben will be mvp…you heard it here 1st

You’re funny. Wet dream much? Steelers won’t even get past New England let alone your daddy Baltimore. Steelers will be out of the playoffs after wild card round just like the 49ers. PRETENDERS

Uh…when your up 21 in EVERY game…the only thing the other team does is pass. Hence our team gets the most pased on. ALL garbage.
Idot.
@rudedog36….uh when your up 21 in EVERY game. If you have any kind of defense. You should stop the pass! So your logic is, because your up 21, teams pass on you? Wow! That’s so logical. Total packer fan logic there. What about stopping the run cause you can’t do that either. Wait til you play a real defense! Packers will get smoked! Keep playing them nfc soft defenses!
