Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski looked like a man playing against boys on Sunday against the Redskins, catching six passes for 160 yards and two touchdowns and brushing off tackles with ease. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan says no one in the locker room felt good about that.
In particular, Shanahan singled out Redskins cornerback DeAngelo Hall for standing there and watching while two of his teammates failed to bring Gronkowski down. Shanahan said today that Hall felt badly about that.
“I know he was embarrassed by it as was our whole football team,” Shanahan said, via Ryan O’Halloran of CSNWashington.com.
The Redskins should be embarrassed by that showing. On a day when they played a surprisingly competitive game with the Patriots, the secondary’s refusal to compete when Gronkowski had the ball may have been the difference between winning and losing.
