Jets add Gerald Alexander

The New York Jets have lost safety Jim Leonhard for the rest of the season.  They’ve filled his spot on the roster with veteran free agent Gerald Alexander.

The team announced this evening that Alexander, cut by the Dolphins last month, has been added to the team.

A second-round pick in the 2007 draft, Alexander spent his first two seasons with the Lions.  Traded to the Jaguars in 2009, Alexander was cut during the 2010 season.  He finished out the 2010 season with the Panthers.

Brodney Pool will replace Leonhard in the starting lineup when the Jets visit the Eagles on Sunday.

  1. I thought he was one of the better Matt millen pick, if there is such a thing besides megatron, but marinelli had a lot of say in this pick (and that’s the final dagger?), but he actually looked good in his first two seasons, not sure what happened to him besides the fate of being a millen pick

  2. I follow him on Twitter. He’s a very thoughtful, smart guy who’s a fan of the game (which isn’t as much of a no brainer as you would think, lots of players aren’t). I hate that he’s a Jet though, dang!

  3. It’s. Obvious the only reason the jets pick up this guy is because they are disparate for a win the final game of the season vsthe dolphins. After losses to the eagles and giants a win vs Miami may be their only hope to once again stumble into the playoffs. Milk the guy for his knowledge of miamis defensive schemes and cut him after the game.

  4. ok i’m rooting for new england this week. didn’t think it could happen but the pats are beyond reach for the jets during the regular season. nothing they do matters too much until (if) the jets get in the playoffs.

don’t love the tebow thing. have a hard time with the concept that denver’s wins are due to ‘god’s favor’. the guy has shown the ability to win. also has shown a lot of class. sorry if it’s petty or something, but i’m looking forward to seeing how he handles things when they’re not going so well.
